Morning! Hope you are all well and surviving this heat. I am personally LOVING it. Just hope the sunshine stays for next week as we are off camping and can’t wait to get away. The plan is to have lots of beach days soaking up the sun and being in the moment consistently with my family.

As part of our Festival Brides Love series, where we feature the AWESOME members of our Festival Wedding Directory, we have a very talented hair and make up artist to share with you all today. Ladies and Gents, meet Frances Moore. She joined our directory is May and from the moment we first made contact, she has been an absolute pleasure and dream to work with. We feel very lucky to have her as a directory member and have been really looking forward to sharing more details on what amazing hair and amek up skills she can offer you on your wedding day.

A girl after my own heart (my dream is to buy a VW camper too Frances!) Frances’ make up and hair style falls into 4 main categories: modern, boho, classic and natural. She pours her heart and soul into her work and always strives to make sure her brides feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible on the morning of their wedding day. She comes with extensive experience of working in different industries and has even done the make up and hair for celebrities and members of aristocracy.

We asked Frances to a few questions about her beautiful business, how it works if you were to book with her, her extensive global experience and her advice when it comes to preparing your hair and skin ahead of your wedding day.

Over to Frances.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

Hello readers! I’m Frances and I am the face behind my business.  I graduated from Greasepaint School of TV & Film Makeup in 2011 and started to work professionally as a full time makeup artist since 2013.  I am very proud of the fact that I have worked and trained hard to provide the best possible service for my clients – whom I like to consider as individuals and THE most important person in my life on their wedding day.  I cannot stress that enough!

Aside from putting my heart and soul into my work – I enjoy reading about health and nutrition, I run an average 15-20k a week (which I highly recommend to any stressed brides out there!) and challenge myself each year to do something out of my comfort zone.  Last year I walked Ben Nevis for charity and next year I hope to walk the full length of Hardian’s Wall along with running it through a virtual race.. wish me luck!

If you had the chance to go to any music festival, which one would it be?

So my dream is to own a vintage VW Camper Van and renovate it to make it just perfect for my Cavachon dog Baxter and myself to tour folk music festivals, which are my absolute faves.  For me it’s the people that make a festival buzz and, more so than the music, I love the atmosphere of a crafty/reflective/meditative vibe. So it would have to be the Cambridge Folk Festival.

Tell us about your beautiful hair and make-up business and the services you offer Brides?

Styling wise I tend to fall into four categories; Modern, boho, classic and natural.  My clientele tends to be of a similar mind-set in terms of wedding arrangements – i.e boho or festival schemes.  Which I completely adore.

Having been in the industry for almost 8 years my previous clientele have included brides, models, actors, presenters, singers and members of the aristocracy primarily throughout Hampshire (New Forest), Dorset, Surrey, West Sussex, Wiltshire, London and France.  I regularly contribute to national and international wedding magazines and blogs; including high-end fashion editorials for Sunseeker lifestyle magazine and working for royal milliner Vivien Sheriff – my designs have been seen across the world and celebrated for its versatility and emphasis on natural beauty.  I have been lucky enough to work and train at the highest level of expertise and have been a student of Greasepaint, The Kristina Gasperas Academy, Jo Irving of Jo Loves Hair fame and The Bridal Stylists whom I currently contract for along with Fiona Lucy Clark Hair & Makeup Team.

When it comes to your client’s hair and makeup, are their specific brands you always work with and why?

In my professional hair and makeup kits are products which I have carefully selected for their high performance qualities. This ensures my client’s wedding styling has everything it needs to look effortless, whilst having the maintaining its stability for such an occasion.  These products include; Anastasia Beverly Hills, BaByliss PRO, Benefit, Becca, Bobbi Brown, Bumble & Bumble, Charlotte Tilbury, Dior, Hourglass, Huda Beauty, Laura Mercier, LA Girl,  L’Oréal Professionnel, MAC, Makeup Geek, NARS, Sigma, Tarte and Urban Decay to name a few.

What advice do you have for brides when it comes to choosing the right
makeup look and hair accessories for their wedding and individual style?

Clients will usually show me the same five images from Pinterest of what makeup designs they particularly like at their trial.  Natural yet defined is a common theme and one which I am fully onboard with.  Always stick to what you know and like in terms of makeup, but equally if you want to have that statement red lip for a change then go for it!  I can’t stand reading articles about what you should or shouldn’t do for your wedding.  It’s YOUR wedding, do what you like hun.

Anyone who knows me, knows I love a bloody good hair accessory – especially one that has been designed with the client’s comfort in mind.  Handmade accessories by an individual in a little cottage industry are always the best as they take so much more time and care over a piece.  Etsy is a good place to find a really special hairpiece to suit any style.  My personal favourite is Honey & Ember.

Do you offer hair and makeup services for Bridesmaids and The Mother of The Bride?

Yes of course!  The more the merrier!  I have a small team of hand-selected individuals who can assist with larger groups if required.

What tips can you offer Brides when it comes to preparing their skin and hair in the weeks leading up to their wedding day?

It’s really important not to stress too much about your skin and hair before the big day.  Yes, I know it is easier said than done!  But actually if you don’t think about these at all, you won’t be constantly worried about pimples or growing your hair, and you know what?  This helps to not gain pimples and your hair might grow another inch!  That’s the effect stress causes on the body without us even realising it.

So other than keeping up your usual skincare regime – maybe drink a little more water and a little less alcohol, there is nothing more you need to worry about.  And if you do have any issues with your skin or hair then I’ll be there with my team to put you back together again.

What trends are you noticing for 2020 and 2021 Brides?

Braids, braids and more braids!  At the moment it’s the diamond infinity braid that is keeping me busy and that is just because it’s a cracking little number.

Half up styles are always not far from my schedule, along with twisted loose upstyles with low buns.  It’s actually flower girls that are becoming more demanding for different styles, which makes me chuckle especially when I get my instructions on where to place a tiara or flower crown… They keep me on my toes!

If our brides were to book with you, what sort of service can they expect?

Consultation trials usually take place 6 weeks before the big day and are held at my home studio in Lymington, near the New Forest. The studio has the perfect lighting and space for friends and family to come along too. I wholeheartedly believe in offering a high quality service completely tailored, so during the trial we will discuss a client’s vision.  There is also an opportunity to try on many artisanal bridal hair accessories and veils which I have at the studio and are all available to purchase at any stage.

If a client would like a more bespoke service where I can stay until after the ceremony for touch ups, or even until well into the evening for a change of hair and makeup, then it can definitely be arranged.

“Hi Frances, Just wanted to say thank you so much for all you did on the morning of our wedding day.  I received so many compliments on my hair and make up which lasted all day, plus into the night with our particularly rocky band.  Felt very comfortable and spoilt having you there helping me get ready, so thank you.”

Kate, The Master Builders Hotel, October 2019

What’s your life quote/motto?

So I recently watched Hannah Gadsby’s ‘Nanette’ which was just unbelievably incredible and I loved a particular quote – “There is nothing stronger than a broken woman who has rebuilt herself.”  Some mottos and quotes just stick to you for a time and then you move onto something else, but this just made me feel strong especially during this unusual time.
