City Chic Elopement Shoot in Shoreditch

The weekend is nigh lovely peeps and to celebrate we have the coolest of elopement styled shoots to share with you all today.

Captured in Shoreditch by the brilliant Sammy Taylor Photography, and featuring real life couple Grace and Joshua, today’s elopement was put together to bring positivity and inspiration to couples whose wedding plans have been affected by Covid-19, and we love it all the more for doing so. Sammy explains…

As a wedding photographer who has been catapulted into an empty season this year, I took it upon myself to dedicate this time to offering my clients (plus future Bride & Grooms) lots of positivity and inspiration when it comes to weddings. It’s no secret that for now the dynamic of ‘large traditional’ weddings has been altered – temporarily! (Damn you C19). I have had so many of my wonderful Brides on the phone full of emotion, panic and despair. So, after moving their bookings, and offering lots of support and advice, I chose to keep the creativity flowing at full speed on my social media.

We absolutely LOVE that Sammy has used her time this summer to create such beautiful content to keep couples, Brides especially, inspired during what has been such a heartbreaking year. If you have a look at her Instagram, she has taken part and organised the most beautiful shoots this summer, ranging from rustic luxe bohemian style to more contemporary inspiration, like today’s shoot. We absolutely adore the modern chic city vibe this elopement has. From Grace’s sophisticated wedding dress to Joshua’s blue tweed suit with those amazing shoes – it comes with a sleek fashion forward vibe that is just so on trend for 2020 ceremony only weddings. The location, the streets of Shoreditch, offers the perfect backdrop for their love story, especially when it comes to those graffiti walls which elevate the modern bridal and groom style even further.

As Sammy explains below, Covid-19 has meant that small weddings are becoming the norm for 2020 and we just love how creatives in the wedding industry are turning this into a positive by focusing their energy in providing content that celebrates everything that is great about a small intimate weddings. This shoot, amongst other things, illustrates that you can have so much fun when it comes to your couple portraits. A smaller elopement style wedding means more time to really relax and explore your love in front of the camera.

Positivity and Inspiration…

As a wedding photographer who has been catapulted into an empty season this year, I took it upon myself to dedicate this time to offering my clients (plus future Bride & Grooms) lots of positivity and inspiration when it comes to weddings. It’s no secret that for now the dynamic of ‘large traditional’ weddings has been altered – temporarily! (damn you C19)

I have had so many of my wonderful Brides on the phone full of emotion, panic and despair. So, after moving their bookings, and offering lots of support and advice, I chose to keep the creativity flowing at full speed on my social media. With the new restrictions in mind, it was a ‘no-brainer’ to show a lot more ‘weddings’ (styled bridal shoots) of a smaller size, OR even beautiful elopements with just the couple themselves. (Elopement; no longer means running away in secret and hiding it from family and friends – gosh the meaning is so much more wonderful and romantic nowadays!)

With these ideas always buzzing around in my head, I wanted to keep this ‘Elopement’ shoot very simple. I mean, isn’t that what it’s all about in the first instance, just simply the love between 2 people?! – Screw C19 and have the massive party another time, but as for the love? – That did NOT have to be cancelled (soppy I know, but true!).

I contacted my good friends Pantiles Bride and told them I wanted to do a really cool elopement shoot in London but with a very ‘slick and sophisticated’ twist (and the Pantiles Bride are known for being on point with ‘sophisticated’ designs) – they offered the most PERFECT gown (Luna, designed by Suzanne Neville) paired up with some Ivory and Co jewellery. It was just divine. The high neckline and off the shoulder combo is just exquisite.

With the urban location in the planning and the sophistication of Grace’s wedding dress, the bouquet was created by the super talented Cacti and Wildflower. It had the most perfect elegant and contemporary edge; Pink avalanche roses, serrurria blushing bride, phalaenopsis orchid, and summer dahlias with dried touches of texture. The blush pinks with the pop of red, it really was a match made in heaven in every aspect.

I found the model couple by luckily stumbling across Grace and Joshua on instagram and messaged them my ideas. From the get-go I knew they were the ones I wanted to shoot; they had the best energy and vibe (and lovely real couple chemistry), and were just beyond what I wanted for this shoot. We all had such a fun time running around London and the amount of ‘congratulations’ they received was magical. It really put a smile on our faces. Shoreditch really offered me all the cool feels that I was after!!

The overall result was exactly what I wanted and my goodness, we were all buzzing from this day…. Eloping really can be just as significant and fabulous!!
