Hello babes, and welcome to another festival-inspired week here on the blog! If you were brave enough to hit the high street this weekend then I salute you….I made a measly attempt at Christmas shopping in town, which ended just shy of an hour later with a Pret Flat White and non-existent shopping bags. Looks like Amazon is going to be my very best friend this Christmas!
On to today’s real wedding which took place at Wildwood Bluebell, one of our very own exclusive venues. Wildwood is set in the glorious and secluded heart of the Cotswolds, surrounded by wild flower meadows, enchanting woodland and acres of private farmland. This heavenly setting is right at the top of the best and exquisitely unique and free spirited festival venues in the UK, and we are so proud to be able to offer it exclusively through Festival Brides!
Sacha and Ross love all things festival and camping, so it was no surprise that the beautiful bride hooked up with Festival Brides for the lastest wedding-fest inspiration to plan her own wedding.
Festival Brides was an inspiration throughout the entire planning process. Our love of camping and festivals really set the theme and was our main inspiration – we knew we wanted a festival theme bursting with colour, nature and music.
The couple embraced the opportunity to adorn their bluebell-filled blank canvas with heaps of creative DIY elements, including bright and bold decor and lots of handmade features. With a little help from friends and family, (most of which stayed with them and ‘glamped’ in the meadow for the duration of the weekend), the pair whipped up the perfect whimsical, nature-inspired, festival-style wedding. One of the most amazing things about this place, is that it gives couples the freedom to bring in their own suppliers and create a ‘one-of-a-kind’ celebration that is completely unique to them. It really is a hidden gem!
Here’s Sacha to tell you all about her dream wedding to Ross, captured by the amazing Black and Whiteley….
Romantic Park Proposal in Copenhagen
We went for a long walk whilst on holiday in Copenhagen – 13 miles – I was so tired! Ross wouldn’t let me get a taxi….he wanted to walk back through the park! He unexpectedly proposed whilst walking back through the park! It was a huge surprise. Ross had booked the venue all by himself.
Beautiful Cotswolds Venue Surrounded by Meadows and Wild Bluebells
We were married at Wildwood Bluebell in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire. I found it through the Festival Brides Instagram page! We had our guests camp over and hired all of the onsite space at the venue – plenty of room for everyone! We hired a traditional tent from Bisley Hire.
Woodland Ceremony Surrounded by Beautiful Bluebells
We held our ceremony in the woods and had our celebrant help to choose our vows. Carol from The Somerset Celebrant was absolutely excellent. We had lots of DIY décor in the woods and everything was so bright and colourful! I wanted colour everywhere!
Colourful DIY Reception
I handmade all of the brightly coloured tassels with my bridesmaids. It took ages but it was so worth it! We hung ribbons everywhere and made the woods beam with colour. The bluebells looked beautiful. The aim was for it to feel like a wonderland in the woods – it was a dream come true.
Ross hand made the FLEMFEST sign out of pallets and individually spray painted artists that had inspired him like Oasis, Rolling stones, Beatles and Michael Jackson. My dad handmade all of the other pallets and we also made all of the paper flowers out of maps of places we had visited – over 300 of them!
We had live music all day! First a solo artist, then a band, then a DJ and sax and then finally, a silent disco which went down a storm!
Cake made by Granny, Wild Flowers and BBQ Banquet
My granny made our Krispy Kreme cake and a fab company called the Lazy Pig catered for everyone – people even now still rave about the BBQ and hog roast! We made S’mores for everyone too!
Go Wild Flowers from Gloucestershire was our florist. She definitely captured the wild floral images that I had in mind.
Festival-Inspired Dress and Rose Gold Metallic Shoes
I wore a Suzanne Neville dress (the Salvador). It wasn’t what I was looking for, but when I put it on, I felt amazing! It was so comfortable and fitted nicely into our festival theme along with my flower crown. I wore rose gold Kurt Geiger shoes.
Incredible and Fun Photographer
I can’t explain enough how much Matt made our day. He arrived at 8 am and stayed until midnight because he was enjoying himself so much! We owe him a new shirt too, as he was so dedicated to taking amazing images that he spent most of the time rolling around in the woods or the grass! I wanted him to capture the passion, the feel and the emotion of the day without the formality of traditional wedding photos. I couldn’t recommend or rave enough about Matt.
Trilion Productions captured our wedding film. They were simply amazing!
Ross wanted the Rolling Stones – ‘that’s how strong my love is’. Music is his passion!
I have two! The first is when we were having pictures taken in the woods after the ceremony. Ross and I could hear the live music echoing through the woods and hear the sounds of our friends and family laughing and enjoying themselves. The second is the wedding morning…. I woke up before anyone and walked across the misty woods to the outdoor shower. I took a minute to sit on a hay bale and soak up the beauty of everything. Across the field I saw someone walking across towards me. Iit was Ross! He had come to the woods to do exactly the same thing! We sat on the hay bales, watched the sunrise and then went to get ready.
Do exactly what represents you and what you love doing as a couple. It’s such an amazing feeling seeing all your friends and family camp and take part in lots of things that they wouldn’t normally do.
