On the 22nd April 2018, the gorgeous Manor Barn in Cambridge opened it’s gates to hundreds of excited couples, all eagerly awaiting to see what cool, quirky and alternative suppliers would be exhibiting at 2018’s The Rustic Wedding Show. We were so excited by this years show. The line up sounded amazing and with wedding planner and stylist, Katie of Songbird Weddings at the reigns we knew couples were in for a treat. Needless to say, they were not disappointed! Now in its 3rd year, 2018’s show was bigger, better and so inspirational and the quality of the suppliers was fantastic. Katie had a big focus on outdoor weddings for the 2018 show and a lot of her attention went into creating inspirational areas so couples could see how you can turn a blank canvas space into something quite spectacular. Here’s her run down on the show along with the suppliers who helped her pull it all together.
Ps. Look out for the gorgeous floral ceremony arch that echoes that of Meghan and Harry’s stunning Windsor flowers. Just goes to show that this years show was well ahead of the game when it comes to wedding trends!

The Rustic Wedding Show 2018….
On, lets face it, the ONLY sunny day in April we celebrated stylish and imaginative weddings at The Rustic Wedding Show. Founded and designed by outdoor specialist wedding planner Songbird Weddings, this year’s show was more creative and exciting than ever.
Boasting four different styled venue options this show gave creative couples the opportunity to look around different venue structures and see for themselves the different styling opportunities.
Couples arrived into the Industrial zone (a large concrete farming barn) and were immediately shimmied up the aisle to an incredible foam free floral ceremony arch created by Wild Stems.

Beyond that was an industrial table inspiration area designed by stylist, Rose and Dandy – think trestle tables made from an old Victorian coach house with steel hairpin legs, festoon lighting and medicine bottle and flower stem table centres.

“We have noticed an increase in the number of couples wanting to self drive” says Katie, from Songbird, “so we asked Cambridge Wedding Cars to bring down some of their self-drive vehicles as well as their chauffeur driven vehicles”. Well they did not disappoint with a bright yellow Ferrari and an e-type Jaguar!

The industrial space also housed the uber cool, Mixology Brothers who made sure visiting couples were shaken, not stirred before they ventured into the more traditional timber framed barn.

The show was hosted this year by the beautiful Manor Barn in Cambridge. Their rustic timber framed barn which is beautifully adorned with fairy lights made the perfect setting for a more traditional rustic form of decor inspiration. Hayley from Dolly’s Vintage Tea Party did a fantastic job decorating half of the barn with hanging lanterns and a feature mirror wall and created a stunning foliage inspiration table with all of the extra touches that we have come to expect from her. The other half was styled by Fran from Rustic Weddings and Tallulah and Rose who created a faux blossom tree inspiration table.
From the Barn couples travelled outside to be met with a glass of prosecco from crew of VBubbleU and as if that wasn’t enough they then got to sample the gorgeous ice cream from Ally at Sweet Ally Scoops.
Once in the garden there was a fantastic festival vibe. People were sat in the sunshine outside the tipi from the Cambridge Tent Company which was decorated in bright colours by stylist Fleur de Lace. They were enjoying music from Taylor Nathan and The Cardinal Kings, having glitter make-up applied, getting a drink from the horse box mobile bar and eating delicious food served from an airstream by Provenance Kitchen! It was the exact vibe that this style of wedding is all about!
Florist Feather and Ferns had created an incredible foliage moon gate in the garden outside the tipi. Moongates are BANG on trend and make a fantastic ceremony or photobooth backdrop.
If you were looking for something a little different to arrive in you would not have been dissapointed. They had everything from chauffeur driven Bentleys to a TUK TUK!!!
If you have a venue with a view to die for then I am sure you are thinking about a clear marquee. Clear marquees are creating quite the buzz in the wedding industry and so it was exciting to get a chance to see one in the flesh. Rural and Urban Events teamed up with What the Fleur to style the marquee with a foliage hanging bench and macrame hangers.
