My goodness do we have a treat for your eyes this afternoon lovely people. A styled shoot with a modern, luxurious and sophisticated take on the tropical wedding theme with not one, but two bridal looks and a cake that is straight out of my botanical dreams.
Captured at The Barn at Avington, Tropical Sophistication was put together by Primrose Weddings and Events and Loom and Light with the intention too…
..create a fresh approach to a tropical themed wedding. We paired lush dark green foliage mixed with soft fluffy white flowers, crisp white and silver table setting with a spark of neon. The design offered the chance to showcase a more traditional bridal look, including an ethical gown, personalised veil and handmade hair pins and jewellery. It also offered the perfect backdrop for an outfit change – a sequin mini dress, perfect for dancing the night away.
Pairing the tropical botanical wedding trend with neon signage to create impactful installation areas is a stroke of genius. We love what the team have created here. From the luxe style of the ‘happily ever after’ ceremony backdrop to the party vibes of the ’til death do us party’ sign – the beauty with using neon lights is the atmosphere they create will change from day to night as illustrated perfectly here. They will also serve as a brilliant photo opportunity for both you and your guests.
Boasting awe-inspiring flower installations by Raven and Ryegrass (the hanging florals above the reception setting are oh so very dreamy), a simple yet elegant colour palette of green and white, stylish calligraphy by Gunpowder and Ink and beautiful story telling by Margarita Otaola, there is a lot to like about this shoot. And to all of the brides amongst you who are thinking of wearing two dresses on your wedding day – this shoot is for you! You only get married once so why not milk it if you have the budget. We ADORE the sparkly number in this shoot’s evening look and are a big fan of changing into a bridal evening gown for your reception party.
Fran of Primrose Weddings and Events talks us through Tropical Sophistication and the talented suppliers that helped make it happen.

The Concept…
The concept behind the shoot was to create a fresh approach to a tropical themed wedding.
Both looks were complemented with subtle but glamorous hair and makeup, which was reworked for the evening look.
Luxury touches included a personalised stationery suite which was coordinated with a hand painted three tier cake. There was a twist on the traditional reception drinks, with cans of Italian sparkling wine.
The venue, a light and airy space, provided the perfect canvas for the bright neon signage. Over the tables, we hung a tropical floral installation which, paired with the tall tapered candles, created a more intimate feeling to the wedding meal.
Inspiration & Trends…
Luxury Tropical – we used lush dark green foliage mixed with soft fluffy white flowers. Crisp white linens and silver accents. Elegant tropical designs on the cake and stationery.
Neon – cool, chic, and stand out signage for weddings.
Silver – a lot of styling currently uses gold/copper, but we wanted to use a cooler tone to tie in with the crisp white of the linens, and add a bit of sparkle to the more simple table styling.
Day To Evening – we wanted to show how styling could be taken from day to evening. For the bridal look, we had a traditional dress and elegant accessories in the day. For the evening look we had a sparkly dress with rework of makeup and accessories – ready to party the night away!
Statement Floral Installations – we wanted to show how statement florals and neon make an incredible pair. Also, how an installation over the dinner tables can make a space feel more intimate. With a statement installation like this, you don’t need so many flowers on the tables and can instead focus on beautiful candles that add to the atmosphere.
Fun Touches – from sparkly dress to sparkling wine in a can from Quello.
The Suppliers…
The shoot was made possible by the 16 engaged, supportive and creative suppliers who contributed their time, services and products (credits also attached). We had originally planned to do the shoot in April but because of Covid, had to reschedule. It worked out that nearly all of the original suppliers could make the new date, and it gave us the chance to welcome additional incredible suppliers to the team.
