The Elite Tents team are very excited to have teamed up with some of their fellow outdoor event suppliers to hold a SUMMER Tipi Open Day this weekend! Their authentic Nordic tipis, which are renowned for their stability against adverse weather, will be set up at the picturesque Butterhill Farm on the 24th June 2018.
Most couples like to add their own personal touch when planning their wedding and at Elite Tents they like to make their open days as helpful for you as possible when you are trying to decide what would suit your taste. Come to their open day and experience first hand why their stunning giant hat Nordic tipis are so popular, especially for festival style weddings. You will also have the perfect opportunity to chat to their team and tap into their wealth of experience when it comes to supplying tipis at weddings and events.

If you haven’t been inside a tipi before one of the first things you will be taken aback by is their size. At every open day our visitors comment on their ‘tardis like’ grandure. The height to the peak and the raised entrance mean there is masses of space inside, with plenty of room whether you fancy a sit-down wedding feast on the rustic furniture or a more informal chilled set up; either being easily accommodated in the tipis and with the expertise of the Elite Tents team we will help you create a floorplan perfect for you (including allowing for the unpredictable English weather.)
At our open days we keep our decor and layout fairly simple to help you to use your imagination and develop your own ideas of how to decorate for your event. That being said, the sparkling fairy lights, gorgeous Swedish wooden tables and cosy reindeer hides are an absolute must and together with the open fire pit which, even in the summer months, is atmospheric, the tipis really speak for themselves. You will see how the natural coloured canvas and the rustic wooden poles actually need little decoration and for many couples, literally adding a few simple flowers in jars is sufficient to their taste, but for some, the need for bling (here a mirror ball is a must), for bright colours or even to bring in round tables and some traditional wedding style is also absolutely possible in the tipis. The open day will show you just how easy it is to adapt the tipis to whatever suits your personality.
To help with this we theme each open day set up slightly differently from the last one so that as you visit us each time we hopefully showcase a few alternate options. This June our theme is exploring the trend of suspended florals. Decorated to inspire you by the talented Marianne Taviner and her creative team. But if you need some alternative ideas we are bound to have some photos that previous lovely couples have shared with us that you might like. You will also be able to see examples of how outdoor lighting can enhance your outdoor space. We are setting up a sparkling festoon walkway which will lead you into the spacious and stylish rustic set up that we have created for you. And if you really love the tipis at this particular venue then Kate from Festival Weddings, who coordinates the site will be around to chat to you too.Creating a stunning theme inside your tipi is a huge part of the enjoyment of planning an outdoor wedding but the atmosphere outside your tipi can be made just as much fun! By day this might be providing outdoor games, like giant Jenga or a bouncy castle for the kids, but another way to encourage your guests to use the outside area is to setup some of your suppliers outside the tipi. One such supplier is Prosecart who will be joining us at our open day and serving delicious drinks from their unique 1920 themed prosecco cart bar. And where better to sit and enjoy those lovely bubbles that sitting in our fabulous chill out area underneath our Nimbus “Little Hat”.
Seeing the tipis set up in a field will give you an idea as to how your tipi event could look in the natural, countryside surroundings. And for those who are thinking of including glamping alongside the tipis, Get Sneaky will be providing some of their bell tents, beautifully kitted out for the occasion, for you to look at.The world is your Oyster (literally!) when it comes to your catering. You can be as flexible as you fancy when holding your own tipi event and choose whatever dishes tickle your taste buds. But if you really don’t know where to start, you will be pleased to know that you can enjoy sampling some of the gorgeous tasters prepared by the talented Rustic Roast Kitchen and Fine Food Matters, both attending and on hand to advise you.
Finally don’t forget that having been inspired, set up and decorated your gorgeous tipis and eaten and drunk some delicious things, you will need a top class photographer to capture your memories so you can relive them over and over. So our final recommended supplier at the open day is the lovely Nicola of Daffodil Waves Photography. Keep your fingers crossed she has your date available!
So all in all, this open day will be a fabulous opportunity for you to come and see just how a tipi wedding reception could work for you, as well as giving you lots of ideas and introducing you to some of the best in the outdoor wedding business.
