Where do I start with today’s real wedding?! Firstly, I should say good morning and a happy new week to all of you glorious babes….OK, now on to today’s wedding before I burst! We’ve been so desperate to share this wedding with you, and have been utterly encapsulated by the love between Rebecca and Danielle. These girls look so lost in love during their Airbnb condo wedding, it’s just beyond beautiful. And yep, it really can be as simple as booking an elegant, white washed apartment online to play out your love story, just as these two did in front of just a handful of family and friends. The couple eloped and decided to have a stripped-back, bare and intimate wedding in Nova Scotia….

We had what some would consider a rather ‘non-traditional’ wedding. We both proposed to each other, we picked out our wedding dresses together and we got ready together on our wedding day. We wouldn’t have had it any other way!

There’s no question that these girls are totally in tune with each other, after proposing to each other at the same time and by absolute coincidence, chose the same engagement ring for each other! They created a beautiful ceremony area in the main living space of the property using a pretty wedding arch which they decorated themselves using Costco flowers and simple white drapes. The wedding featured many DIY elements and played out on a very low budget, which was always the intention. With travel dreams and big plans for the money they saved, these girls always imagined a low-key, low-cost celebration.

The wonderful Leslie Estelle Photography was the eye behind the lens and kindly shared this collection with us. We love the way she captures the beauty and elegance of this relationship, in her subtle ‘fly-on-the-wall’ style. Laughter exudes this pair, and you can really feel the joy and spirit of this stunning condo elopement in the heart of Canada. Here’s bride Rebecca to tell you more….

Both Proposed with Identical Rings!

We both proposed on the same day to each other without even realising it! We went away to a cottage for the weekend. Danielle proposed first in the morning, and to her surprise, I proposed to her later that day. Without knowing, we’d bought the same engagement ring for each other!

Airbnb Venue in Nova Scotia

We rented an Airbnb condo overlooking the water in Halifax, Nova Scotia and got married there. We wanted to have a low budget elopement-style wedding, but we still wanted to be able to decorate our venue the way that we wanted. Our wedding had elements of gold, pastel pink and black. We chose to make the most of creating the décor ourselves.

Simple, Elegant Elopement Wedding Followed by Fun Party with Friends and Family

We wanted a simple (but still fun), elegant wedding. We opted to have a smaller elopement-style wedding with our immediate family, so that we could afford to do the things that we really wanted. We chose to spend our ‘wedding budget’ on the honeymoon trip of a lifetime – safari in South Africa, and afterwards, we will have a post-wedding party with extended friends and family.

Stunning Bridal Dresses

Danielle wore a white dress from Sweet Pea Boutique and I wore a white dress from David’s Bridal. I wore shoes from Payless and Danielle bought her shoes from Aldo. Our hair was done by the very talented Jacquelyn Taylor and our make up was done by the lovely Meghan Lawlor.

DIY Costco Flower Bouquets

We bought our flowers from Costco and we assembled the all of the bouquets and arrangements ourselves! Our wedding cake was from Layers Halifax and we had homemade wine made with personalised labels that we served during the wedding. We gave our immediate family a bottle of wine to take home with them, and saved a bottle for each friend and family member that weren’t present on the day.

Bare and Beautiful Ceremony

We had a very intimate ceremony with only ourselves, our immediate family, photographer and Justice of Peace present. The ceremony itself was beautiful. We both wrote our own vows and recited them out loud to each other. We chose to make most of the décor items for the ceremony ourselves. We assembled our flower bouquets and purchased our wedding arch second hand, so all we had to do then was add our own personal touches to it.

Post-Ceremony Appetisers

We ordered appetisers (quarter sandwiches, mini cheesecakes, assortment of cheese) from Sobeys. After our ceremony, we went out to dinner at our favourite local restaurant. We chose to go out to dinner at our favourite local restaurant as a group.

Beautiful Elopement Photographer

Our lovely photographer was Leslie Estelle Photography. She was present to photograph us and our family prior to the ceremony, during and afterwards. She was extremely personable and even enjoyed wedding cake with us after the ceremony.

Favourite Moment

Our favourite moment was reciting our vows to each other. We chose to write our own vows and we hand-wrote them on stock paper. We both laughed and cried listening to each other’s vows for the first time. We plan to frame our vows together as a reminder of this special moment.

Any Advice?

Our advice would be to enjoy the wedding planning process together and try not to worry about pleasing everyone. It’s your day and you should plan the wedding of your dreams!
