Planning a Destination Wedding – The Snazzy Way!

When deciding to host a destination wedding, the organisation process might seem overwhelming. It’s a lot of pressure to have your family and friends fly around the world to help you tie the knot. So, where do you start when planning a wedding in France? The Snazzy Camp team will break it down for you, to help get your wedding adventure started with our checklist of things to consider when planning a wedding in France.
Region…
So, you’ve made the first decision- that you want to get married in France. First box ticked. Now you need to decide where in France to host your destination wedding.
It’s a big place, with a lot of amazing options. Start by listing out your priorities- great weather? Amazing local food & wine? easy flight access from the UK? Surf beaches? French Château wedding venues? Venues that allow glamping? If you’re nodding your head to even a few of those then the Snazzy Camp team has you covered.
Whilst we can highly recommend Biarritz and the Pays Basque area – We have worked at venues throughout the South West region from Bordeaux to Perpignan and we know plenty of beautiful venues and backdrops for you to consider. Accommodation…
Glamping is a relatively new concept in France, but we know it can be a wonderful experience and a fantastic addition to any party or wedding. No one needs to think about taxis, hotels or leaving the party before they are ready.
So, whether you have a handful of stylish tents in the garden for the guests you can’t quite fit into your château or an accommodation village with the works – solar showers & luxury toilets – glamping can make your wedding extra special. Providing you with your own festival wedding village is what the Snazzy Camp team does best.
Our glamping interiors are what set us apart with no two Snazzy tents styled the same. This means you can be sure you’ll be treating your guests to a glamping experience they will love!
We work with a variety of châteaux and venues in the South West region of France that allow glamping, so we already have the inside knowledge to get your festival wedding started. Like in England, many popular venues get booked up years in advance. But don’t stress, the beauty of a glamping wedding is that we can pitch our tents in a variety of locations, which you may not have considered.
However, if your granny isn’t down with glamping (understandably!) there’s no need to worry. Many of the larger venues we work with offer accommodation and the more intimate venues have plenty of local recommendations that will be perfect for Granny to retreat back to whilst the other guests stay on site and party into the night.
Reception Tent…
Wanting an outdoor wedding reception? One thing no one can control is the weather, so when planning your wedding in France it’s always better to be safe and plan ahead of time. Snazzy Camp is a one stop shop when it comes to your reception tent needs.
We have a range of sizes that will not only fit all your tables and chairs, but once the speeches and toasts are finished – your guests will be jumping out their seats to join you on our dancefloor after your first dance is done.

Blank Canvas…
One of the best things about having a glamping wedding is that your wedding is a blank canvas, so you can create the wedding you’ve always wanted. Put your own stamp and individuality as a couple on every element, from the seating and table layout to the finer decorative details.

Food & Wine…
The beauty of a wedding in France is where else can you get some of the best French wines for a fraction of the cost you pay at your local supermarket in the UK. If you’re anything like us, providing your guests with a food and wine experience will be a top priority.
In the South West of France, you have a choice of wines for all tastes and budgets, and the Basque region is a gastronomical delight, enjoying the reputation for being one of the best cuisines in the world.
Travel…
Whilst planning your destination wedding try to inform your guests early about their travel options to your wedding venue, so they can make the most of those early bird prices. There are several airports that service the South West region: Bordeaux, Biarritz, Pau, Toulouse, Perpignan. With plenty of notice your guests can snap up cheap direct flights with Ryanair or EasyJet.
And for your international guests flying into Paris, they will be pleasantly surprised at the reasonably priced internal flights available to them or equally benefit from Frances sophisticated rail network.
Legalities…
In France only a civil ceremony is legally binding, and you’ll need to do this at the local Town Hall. To get married in France you will need to live here for 40 days before your wedding date and post your wedding banns (intent to marry) 10 days before your wedding. For the civil ceremony you will need two witnesses and the ceremony will be conducted in French.
In France, a religious wedding ceremony is not legally binding. If you would like to have a religious ceremony, you must first have a civil ceremony.
Because of the need for a civil ceremony, most couples have a legal ceremony at home before heading to France for a church ceremony. If you are doing this you will need to bring your marriage certificate, which needs to be translated into French by a verified agent.
