Oh my goodness is today’s wedding a thing of beauty. Be prepared to be blown away by the joy that radiates from the couple and their guests and the beautiful boho wedding inspiration it contains. I couldn’t think of the more perfect way to bring in the weekend than with this gorgeous wedding.
Captured to perfection by Joy Zamora and planned with the help of the brilliant Opi of Open The Door Events, Mylene & Benjamin’s wedding was inspired by the bohemian free spirited vibes of Coachella and their mutual love for Goa, India. They are a couple after my own heart…
The inspiration was our love for spending summers in Goa and at music
festivals, we are big into the music scene and wanted to incorporate a
bohemian festival vibe into our day. Opi really helped us make those ideas tangible and incorporated the Coachella boho vibes. We couldn’t have been more thrilled about the styling and feel so grateful for how beautiful everything turned out.
With flower peace symbols, vintage silk sari fabrics draping from trees, a relaxed informal vibe, a macrame ceremony area, stylish floral installations in lush red hues, a live band and cava ice lollies for guests on arrival – this is a wedding that is an absolute treat for the eyes and is full of so many wonderful ideas.

Bangkok, A Private Bungalow and Rose-Filled Bath…
We were spending a long weekend in Bangkok for Mylene’s 30th Birthday
and after a 2 hour massage in a private bungalow, in a rose-filled bath I
proposed to her. Mylene had no idea whatsoever and thought the special
weekend was purely for her bday celebrations so was utterly shocked.
A Bespoke Wedding Dress…
I loved the idea of creating something with my own hands for this very special day. I sewed my own robe for my preparation and I also sewed my own veil. I handpicked every single piece of fabric for my wedding dress and my bridesmaid dresses and designed them with a tailor.
An Incredible Wedding Planner…
We wanted a very relax, non traditional non conformist wedding. We had a
big outdoor party in mind, surrounded by nature. We loved the inspiration
we were getting from Festival chic and boho weddings. We discussed it at
length with our wedding planner and she designed the entire wedding
experience with us, accommodating every fantasy we had, from live roast bbq to adding a last minute wishing tree.
It was Opi’s idea to have all the spaces connect and sprawl out onto the
other for intimacy and cosiness, the ceremony naturally flowed onto the
cocktail and dining area and then the party at the end of the gardens. We
had lovely rugs and low tables set up all over for the younger guests and one long table for those who wanted a bit more comfort. We had a macrame swing that the bride made hanging in the middle and some cool flower peace symbols and vintage silk sari fabrics to dress the trees. There was colour, light and pretty flowers everywhere.
Out of This World…
The ceremony was out of this world. We were married by my (the bride’s)
younger sister. She officiated the whole ceremony and our parents and
witnesses gave the most loving speeches. We cried and laughed with our
guests through the entire ceremony it was surreal.
The Perfect Combo…
Picking a photographer whose style fit us and inspired us was one of the most important points for us! Our photographer was the perfect mix of respecting our intimacy and creating the special moments to get the most amazing pictures and memories. And is also the fiancé of Opi from Open the Door Events – talk about the perfect combo!
Beyond Our Expectation…
We handed all things design to Opi and she created this
gorgeous mood board for us to give us an idea of what to expect, but we had
seen her styling in the past and trusted her to meet our vision. The florals
went beyond our expectation, I had never seen such stylish floral
installations at a wedding before and the macrame piece for ceremony alter
was a match made in heaven. We couldn’t have been more thrilled about the styling and feel so grateful for how beautiful everything turned out.
Relaxed and Informal…
We opted out of seating plans, table numbers and escort cards to give it the
whole festival feel. We wanted a super relaxed and informal vibe and guests to move about comfortably if they wanted to eat, drink and dance, they could. We wanted a limitless wedding. Some sat on the floor picnic style and others on a long wooden table under dreamiest lights.
Favourite Moment…
Walking up to Ben in the ceremony and seeing all my friends and family and the stunning ceremony space…it was the dreamiest most magical moment. And the vows, Ben and completely poured our hearts open and it was
Any Advice?
Get yourself a wedding planner!!! We enjoyed our wedding so much, without any uncertainties or last minute stress. You can really focus on yourselves and your guests, and this is priceless!
