Elopement Shoot in Whitesands National Park

Oh do we have a thing of absolute beauty to share with you all today. A gorgeous couple shoot, captured within the mesmerising Whitesands National Park in New Mexico – a landscape that boasts 275 square miles of white sand dunes composed of gypsum crystals. It was here that Sarah Lotus Photography, along with the gorgeous models Carla and Daniel, put together elopement style wedding inspiration for couples who are looking to buck the white wedding dress trend and formal groom attire, especially if that more traditional style doesn’t suit your wedding venue.

For Love On The Whitesands, Sarah chose a gorgeous brown velvet dress by Reclamation Design that looks absolutely incredible against the starkness of the white sand and we are in complete awe of it. The texture and the way the light dances on the folds of the fabric is magical. Add to that a barefooted groom dressed all in black with a carefree relaxed vibe and you have the perfect styles for the white sand to elevate.

In my time as a photographer I have shot many weddings in the magical dunes of Whitesands National Park. My biggest goal with creating this shoot was to showcase different dress styles for brides. The traditional white dress is stunning but in locations such as Whitesands National Park a white dress definitely can blend into the surroundings. A wedding dress of a different colour, such as this stunning velvet dress by Reclamation Design Company, allows for the bride to stand out as any bride should on their wedding day. The inspiration behind every detail of this shoot was to encourage brides to style their elopement in a way that best compliments their surroundings.
