Happy Monday oh lovely ones, and welcome to another totally jam packed, festival inspired, bohemian laced week here on the blog. Before we take you to real wedding heaven, we just have to mention the royal wedding over the weekend. Didn’t she look totally stunning? Princess Eugenie totally owned the day with her demure and beautifully traditional dress, and although we aren’t usually one for princess tiaras, (more flower crown kinda gals, you know?!), we have to give full credit to her for rocking out the most exquisite sparkling emerald green tiara from Queenie’s own personal collection. Guess that was her something borrowed!

So, on to today’s real wedding instalment, brought to us by the gorgeously talented Jade Maguire Photography. She shot Maggie Sottero draped Ellie and husband Spencer at their festival inspired, woodland barn wedding in North Wales. Ellie described her wedding as ‘mint green and pink themed….traditional meets woodland festival’….add a little boho chic and whimsical glam into that description and we are just about there! This wedding is an absolute beaut and features some really nice traditional festival and bohemian elements; pastel coloured pom poms, handwritten signage, woodland smoke bombs and a heap load of festoon lighting. And in true fest style, the couple had the coolest festival wedding lanyards made, DIY props and an outdoor wedding setting to die for – their ceremony was right by the lake in a fairy lit, bunting adorned boathouse! They also made the prettiest floral hanging hoops which have been bang on trend this year. Who knew a children’s hula hoop could become one of the most popular festival wedding props for 2018!

Let’s hand over to the bride herself to tell you more about her day….

Lake Side Proposal Surrounded by Honeysuckle and Roses

Spencer proposed to me at Gottwood Festival, which is held in the Carreglwyd Estate. It was a complete and utter surprise. He proposed down by the lake on a bench surrounded by honeysuckle and pink roses.

Beautiful Welsh Estate Wedding

We were actually married on the Carreglwyd Estate which is in Anglesey. We had our ceremony in the Boathouse beside the lake and our reception was in The Long Barn. After the engagement, we found out that Carregwlyd also did weddings – naturally we felt that this would be the perfect venue for our wedding. We also had our guests camp over with us via a great tent hire company called Celtic Canvas Co.

Twinkling Boathouse Ceremony on the Lake

Our ceremony was held outside in the boathouse by the lake. We had a civil ceremony with two readings read by two very special and dear friends. The Boathouse was decorated with festoon lights, bunting and lanterns trailing across the ceiling. We used sprit bottles with fairy lights, painted wine bottles and jam jars with roses to decorate the inside.

Maggie Sottero, Jimmy Choos and Lipsy

I wore the Trena by Maggie Sottero. The dress made me feel like a princess and I adored the detailing towards the bottom of the it. I teamed up the dress with a pair of stunning Jimmy Choos. The bridesmaid’s all wore dresses from Lipsy and Spencer’s groom outfit was from Debenhams.

Floral Hoops, DIY Signage and Lots of Bunting

Our reception in the barn was decorated with lots of fairy lights, bunting and pink uplighters. We DIY’d the card post-box, firepit, all of the painted bottles and jars, the Mr and Mrs floral hoops, all the signage and the favours.

Festival Lanyards and Stationery from Not on the High Street

All of our Order of Service sheets, menus and festival-style lanyards were made by Not on the High Street with table plan and details from Daisy Daisy Designs UK. We had great entertainment in the form of beautiful singer Hannah Williams Music and DJ Lightning Loud.

Three Tier Naked Cake and Peonies

Ynys Mon Cakery made our cake which was a semi-naked style cake decorated with fresh flowers. It had 3 tiers: lemon, white chocolate / raspberry and Victoria sponge. Occasions Florist did all of our flowers – I absolutely love peonies, so they just had to be in my bouquet! I really like the colour of eucalyptus leaves, so they formed the main greenery in all of the bouquets and other floral arrangements.

Love and Happiness in Every Image

Jade Maguire was AMAZING! She literally caught the love, happiness and laughter of the day in every shot, and made us feel uber comfortable – we really, really enjoyed shooting with her.

First Dance

Our first dance was to ‘Stranger’ by Angus and Julia Stone. The lyrics really describe our meeting and how we both did end up ‘missing a stranger’ in the first few weeks of our relationship.

Favourite Moment

The moment I realised we were getting married outside in the boathouse! It had been raining pretty much all morning so it was touch and go if we were able to go ahead with our original plan. Being nearly 30 mins late worked to our advantage in the end, as it was still raining at the actual time of ceremony! Oh, and I loved the glitter station!
