Boasting a warming colour palette of peach, burnt orange and dusty pink, today’s dreamy styled shoot comes with the most beautifully put together intimate wedding inspiration, for couples who are looking to escape it all and elope for their wedding day. It is romantic, it is beautiful, it is laidback and it is free spirited. We absolutely ADORE the whole whimsical vibe and it most certainly has us fantasying about sacking off work, jumping in the car and immersing ourselves in nature.
Captured in Snowdonia National Park in Wales by Emma Wilkinson Photography, Love In Snowdonia comes with a relaxed ‘on the whim’ ethos and message to couples which we just love love LOVE. Emma says…
I had the idea for this shoot the week before we shot it. Planning a shoot at such short notice, we hope will show our clients what can still be put together, in such a short time frame. If they are feeling sick of postponing their dates over and over again, they could head to a registry office in the week, then throw some bits together and be reading personal vows to each other in the mountains, having a toast with some of their closest family and friends that same weekend – on a whim.
If you are anything like me, then you may be feeling a little overwhelmed right now after the year we have had. Our bodies have this wonderful ability to switch into auto pilot and carry on in times of stress, but now things are calming down a bit, the adrenalin that has kept us going is slowly wearing off and the first signs of burn out are creeping in. I’m not sleeping, I’m finding it hard to stay motivated and I am finding things, in all honesty, a little daunting right now. Yes things are opening, yes it feels good to be planning for normality again but why am I, and so many of my friends and family, feeling this constant blanket of exhaustion?
The past 15 months have been so hard. So so hard. If you are feeling overwhelmed with it all and the prospect of now planning a wedding is all a bit too much, then I hope this shoot inspires you to surrender to that feeling and maybe go small for your wedding day. It is such a brilliant example of how wonderfully romantic, pretty and special an elopement style wedding can be. Something that is planned with just you two in mind and no one else. How wonderful would that be! And, like Emma says above, if you do the legal bit days/weeks before you can literally elope to anywhere you want in the UK!
Don’t get me wrong – I love a big wedding and can’t wait to see the wedding industry open up in full very soon. However, I am also an advocate for being true to ourselves so if you are feeling the need to go small – do it!!!
Emma shares with us more details on this oh so pretty elopement wedding shoot and the suppliers who helped make it happen,.
Look out for the gorgeous bohemian style picnic table set up for two right by a lake (take me there now please!), the wonderful views of the rugged wild landscape, the texture found in the flowers, cake and folds of those napkins and the intimiate couple portrait ideas.
Enjoy lovely people and happy Tuesday!
Love In Snowdonia…
Words by Emma Wilkinson
Restrictions have meant that big weddings and elopements abroad have had to be put on hold for the time being. The results of the pandemic have made us look into alternative options, for wedding ceremonies and receptions here in the UK.
Snowdonia, known for its spectacular rugged mountain scenery, was the perfect backdrop for a free spirited, bohemian styled elopement.
We wanted the colour palette to be infused with nature and earthy tones. The spot we found by the water had the most beautiful brown colours, you could mistake the backdrop of a couple of the photos for somewhere like the Arabian desert.
I had the idea for this shoot the week before we shot it. Planning a shoot at such short notice, we hope will show our clients what can still be put together, in such a short time frame. For the flowers, lots of texture was important. This was done through the use of dried elements. Earthy tones were also crucial to creating the overall natural feel- from the sand-coloured roses to the tan pampas, the colours had to all flow beautifully with the landscape. Katie wanted her floral arrangements to look like they were growing out of the earth, in a wild way. Which I think is perfectly shown in the ceremony set up, where the flowers look like they are sprouting from out of the rocks.
The wedding cakes draped effect, gave a wonderful windswept feel. This effect fit in perfectly, with the occasional gusts of wind you experience up in the mountains.
The bride wore Bay and Fraser, from In The Name Of Love’s exclusive collection with Susanna Greening Designs. Bay is a floor length silk slip dress which is bias cut to accentuate the models curves, and Fraser a silk satin wrap top with long sleeves gathered into a flared cuff. This look was perfect to create a simple and modern look, which complimented the natural beauty of the shoots location. This choice of outfit paired with the stormy surroundings, resulted in the most enchanting appearance and movement of the dress.
