Hello babes, and welcome to a second dose of real wedding love here on the blog this week. Today we bring you elegance and a touch of bohemian chic in the Greek Island wedding of Emilia and Victor.
Planned perfectly by Stella and Moscha and flawlessly captured by Louis Gabriel, this romantic love story between former BBC presenter Emilia and her fiance Victor began in childhood, and followed through to this wonderful wedding full of beauty, charm and authenticity.
They held their elegant and sophisticated outdoor wedding celebration in Spetses, an island featured in contemporary Greek history as being a small hidden retreat with small street and mansions. I’d love to go there – it looks divine! The pair used the island as inspiration for their decor; olive greens, white flowers and navy blue details collaborated effortlessly to create relaxed, chic tones and a whole lot of class.
Our inspiration was the Greek Islands and the sea. Victor is a sailor and we both grew up by the beach, so we went with a nautical theme. We both wanted a wedding that represented our Greek heritage and personalities.
Stella and Moscha describe the wedding as ‘nautical meets classic Greek’. And we would describe it as truly STUNNING. So intimate and utterly romantic. And if a free spirited, personal and private wedding is in your plans for the next year or two, this island would make the perfect elopement escape too….
Here’s Emilia to tell you all about her Mediterranean island wedding to Victor!
Childhood Sweethearts Engaged on NYE
We were childhood sweethearts who met when we were 3 years old! We dated as teenagers and then broke up when we went to University. After 8 years apart, Victor flew to London to take me on a date and the rest was history. We were engaged six months later on New Year’s Eve 2016.
Intimate Greek Island Wedding
We were married at Villa Kanoni, at Kaiki Beach Spetses. My dad went to school in Spetses, so we have a sentimental connection to the island. We both wanted an intimate Greek Island wedding, and there is something regal and magical about the authenticity and beauty of the island. We knew we wanted our party to be on the beach, right next to the water and our wedding planner Stella made it all happen! Most of our guests came from abroad so we were keen to make the weekend feel like a big family holiday.
Elegant Nautical Themed Reception
The island has a magical atmosphere already, so we went for an elegant yet understated style. We used olive greens, white flowers and navy blue details – all the tones came together perfectly. We used white and navy stripes, seashells and foliage to create our reception decor set up.
Jimmy Choos and Pronovias Wedding Gown
I wore a Pronovias dress and veil from Bond Street. It was the second dress I tried on. It just felt like ‘The One.’ When you know, you know! I wore shoes from Jimmy Choo, a beautiful hairpiece by Natso Bridals and earrings by Katia Belova. My heart engagement ring is from Chopard and the bracelet I wore is from Cartier.
Victor wore a suit from Suit Supply London and the bridesmaid’s wore dresses from Monsoon with Katia Belova earrings to match mine.
Louis Gabriel Photography and Videography
Our wonderful photographer was Louis Gabriel, aka, the Wizard of Wedding photography! We came across him on Instagram and fell in love with his work. We love all of our wedding photos. He created magic in every shot! Louis also shot our wedding video.
First Dance
Our first dance was to Ellie Goulding – ‘Still Falling For You’. It was the perfect song; it’s about two people who’ve known each other their whole lives and took a while to end up together. It’s about a love story that is meant to be, and every time I listen to the song, I feel like it’s written about us.
Favourite Moment
All of it! I enjoyed every single second and wish I could relive it all again!
Any Advice?
Do your research and get a good wedding planner! It’s really worth the investment. Our wedding planner Stella and Moscha and team planned the whole thing so effortlessly and made everything so easy for us. They were really professional and took care of everything, no matter how big or small – we didn’t have to worry about a thing. I don’t know what we would’ve done without them!
