My my my do we have an awesome wedding to share with your eyes this morning. A wedding that mixes bohemian beach vibes with a chilled festival style. We love it and I am pretty sure you guys are going to too!
Jessica and Callum got married on the 16th February 2018 on a beach at Onewheo Bay Kerikeri Inlet, New Zealand. Having traveled all over the world together, their wedding was the perfect blend of the chilled and relaxed experiences they had whilst travelling as well as representing both of their free spirited personalities.
We love the hippie boho theme that is carried out throughout each and every element of their wedding from Jessica’s gorgeous laid back bridal style to their nomad elephant cushions. We also adore the two piece bridesmaid outfits with their soft blush pink skirts and lace tops as well as Callum’s super cool and super quirky groom outfit (that waistcoat would look completely at home at all of the best Festivals!)
There is so much to love about this wedding and so much inspiration to be had as well. These guys have totally made me want to marry again and this time on a beach!
Unlike are usual real wedding features, today’s had a slightly different format. It tells the story of Jessica and Callum – how they met, how they fell in love, the adventures they took together and the moment they got engaged. It’s a brilliant story and a great read so pour yourself a cup of something nice and get lost in the chilled hippie festival vibes of today’s real wedding…
Jessica and Callum….
Jess and Cal met in 2008 in medical school when the Newcastle & Durham Universities combined their 4th year students. Dreadlocked Cal was busy raiding Tesco bins, whilst Jess was feeling inspired having just returned from a Human Rights course in Glasgow. Dreamers and longing for travel, they met over card towers & shisha in Jesmond one evening.
Their journey then took them travelling down Central America across to the Jungle Medicine clinic in Guatemala, breaking into Mayan Temples by moonlight, camping on Mexican beaches and making bracelets with street artisans in El Salvador. They then joined the Mudge and Fudge for their first united voyage playing amongst palms, turtles and coral in a magical land called the San Blas Islands. The years that followed led them across the Pacific on the great vessel Oyaragh to settle in the green lands of Aotearoa, aka New Zealand.
Jess & Cal lived in Napier, the sunny Hawkes Bay from 2012 to 2014 until their love for sailing called them again … across to Fiji, Vanuatu & New Caledonia.
They then returned to golden sands of Mount Maunganui, the Bay of Plenty, where a year of study and hermiting was required. Cal escaped to build bamboo rafts in Thailand and met Jess for summer 2016 for Eurotravels and a stint in East Africa for the tropical medicine diploma.
This brings us to 2017 where Jess & Cal have settled again in eastern bays, just outside the hustle & bustle of Auckland.
Cal’s love for movie making, kite-surfing, sailing, and buying in bulk continues. And Jess is as disorganised as ever but also continues to love catching up with friends, cheese, sunsets and spending time by the sea. Frequent trips are made up to see the rentals, Mudgie and Fudgie, in Northland’s Bay of Islands. The Wedding was held at a farmer’s wild beach, looking out at the entrance to the Bay of Islands where Cal & Jess first sailed in.
