To all of our readers who have been forced to change their wedding plans in order to get married this year, this shoot is for you.

Our friends at Hire Love, along with the lovely people at The Curious Eatery in Kent, have put together an intimate wedding shoot in the hope to inspire couples who have decided to opt for a smaller ‘Covid-19 friendly’ wedding. They acknowledge how heart breaking the pandemic has been for so many of you and want to bring some light and pretty to the situation.

A smaller intimate wedding can still bring all the joy and happiness of a larger one. It will be different, there is no denying that, but the sad reality is that small weddings are currently the only option if you want to get married in the UK this year, so we are committed to being as positive as we possibly can about the situation. Love isn’t cancelled. Love is still very much alive and if your heart is telling you to still get married this year, then go for it! Choose your guest list of 30, decorate your ceremony space with the same ideas (but on a smaller scale obviously) that you had for your larger wedding, find a gorgeous bridal/groom mask (more inspiration on this coming soon) and get yourselves down the aisle! You can still have a wonderful ceremony, a photographer, a videographer AND a socially distanced picnic. Officially, wedding receptions are not allowed but common sense tells me that if we can meet up in a park with friends, why can’t you have an outdoor picnic? If you have booked a venue that has an outdoor space, ask your caterer to create individual picnic bags for each of your guests, throw some blankets on the grass at 2 metres apart and have an informal picnic lunch as your reception. You can have music playing whilst you eat, or even a live acoustic singer or musician, and speeches with champagne. As long as each blanket is set up with their own individual bottles of booze, cups and cutlery (which can be easily disposed of by the individuals), you are not breaking any rules in my opinion. Speak to your venue, find out what is possible for a small intimate wedding of 30.

Hire Love and The Curious Eatery talk us through their shoot, the ideas the explored and how they hoped to inspire couples.

My Kind Of Heaven…

The curious eatery gals called us in to do a shoot for them to promote intimate weddings! Their place is beautiful! I kept the palette muted and complimentary to the interiors.

We went for a few different looks to show the diversity of the venue.

The ceremony was simply, with a beautiful cloud from smoking bush flowers. We then turned the room around for a intimate dinner with delicate smoke bush flower runners, soft pinks and blue/grey ester and erik candles, and luxe crockery and glassware. It was my kind if heaven!

Downstairs we set up a long rustic table with colourful glassware and a long run of festoon lights along the tables. A grazing table by most curious eatery was also added.

Our lounge furniture looked epic! It really looked like it was meant to be there. I put some flowers behind the sofa, but it wasn’t enough, so we added more handfuls of smoke bush!

Quirky and Magical…
