Industrial Meets Botanical Wedding Inspiration

Afternoon lovely people and happy hump day! I hope you’re all well and having a great week so far.

We have a super stylish city chic alternative wedding inspiration shoot to share with your eyes today. A shoot that comes with a modern industrial botanical theme and a gorgeously clean and fresh colour palette of white and green. Think hanging white drapes, beautiful romantic lighting, magnificent botanical leaf displays, individual, unique and bohemian groom styling, and two bridal looks that mixes modern luxe wedding style with a hipster twist.

Put together by Junie Poonie Events, Hip and Happening features two real life couples as they explore the incredible and vast outdoor and indoor spaces of The Box at Fargo Village – a unique wedding venue that offers a unique space that is full of artistic personality and industrial vibes – perfect for this modern hipster shoot. Junie says…

The Box was dressed to impress, and impress it did! We adorned the inside with white textures, flickering candle light, simple yet stunning botanical leaf arrangements, oversized tropical trees and thick clusters of boomting material hangings mixed in with festoon lights. When you stepped outside you were met with twinkling fairy lights and festoons crisscrossing over what was once an old industrial estate, and is now a cool, urban, industrialised little village.

We love it when a shoot transforms an urban industrial space into one that is fit for a wedding. There is something quite magical, and satisfying, about juxtaposing city locations into spaces that are full of the beauty and romance of a wedding. The contradicting styles just add so much personality to the space.

Junie talks us through her ideas for the shoot, how it all came to fruition and the wonderful suppliers involved.

Hip and Happening…

Give a girl the right shoes and all that jazz… I say give a girl a huge, expansive OSB (a type of engineered wood) clad venue in the middle of an old former industrial state and, well, magic happens! Add to that venue a team of hand selected creatives and boy oh boy, now we are talking!

Our shoot was set in the main hall of “The Box” in the middle of FarGo village – a huge space created out of pure OSB board and rough floors. The theme was to create a white and green decor shoot using hanging boomting bunting, material swags, loosely laid material on rough wooden trestle tables, festoon lighting and the magic of tropical trees. I am talking about banana leaves, palms, tropical ferns – a botanical haven galore! Match this with flickering white candles, clean and fresh stationery laid on tropical leaves, cosy corners, vintage upholstered and rattan chairs and you have beautiful spaces for our couples to relax – complimented by the coolest of cool bridal outfits, unreal accessories, hair and make up beyond belief, grazing platters and let’s not forget the cake… oh THE cake!

Then there is the couple – real life husband & wife Simon and Jennifer who also rocked up with the most adorable bundle of joy; their little son. Simon also brought his pride and joy – his vintage Pontiac car!

Simon and Jennifer were married just over a year earlier by the lovely Humanist Celebrant Laura, who also appears in the shoot. For me, when planning a shoot, it is imperative to try and have a real-life couple. It’s exactly what it says on the tin, “Real, Authentic, Natural.” When you ask them to hold each other, it’s a true “hold.” They gaze at each other honestly and when they kiss… oh … it’s real. (Yes it’s the hopeless romantic in me!)

It was outside where our shoot began.

With converted shipping containers and walls artistically covered in graffiti art as the backdrop, Simon drove his car, headlights beaming, allowing our photographer, Blonde Shot, to capture the shadows bouncing off the rough brick walls and old shipping containers. It was “Hip & Happening” and all so authentic as he stepped out of his vintage Pontiac in his own cool corduroy suit and neck tie. Jennifer stood unknowingly so glamourous; glowing in her stunning gown and headpiece. This is the beauty of having a real life couple – you capture real authentic moments like this as they naturally happen.

Now more than ever I realise the impact of bringing creatives together, to play, create and do what they do best. This shoot actually took place days before the world pressed pause back in March. Little did we know that – whilst we were all doing our thing, bringing visions to life to inspire others, dancing (yes there are always tunes playing on a poonie shoot!) and working merrily as a team – this would have been our last full scale shoot. I only hope that the happiness that was in abundance whilst doing this shoot, is spread once again to give couples something to hope for. Something to be excited about. Something to aim for, for when the worlds curtains open and they can get married once again.
