Autumn Décor Ideas for Intimate Weddings

Oh the Autumnal wedding vibes are strong on the blog this morning!!! We adore today’s wedding inspiration shoot. Put together by Amy of Anthology Vintage Hire, styled by Mia Sylvia and captured beautifully by one of our wedding supplier directory members Kelsie Low Photography, Here Comes The Sun was organised during Covid-19 restrictions when couples were allowed to have a guest list of 30 or less. To encourage couples to embrace this smaller Micro-wedding trend, despite many wedding venues being closed in the UK, they created an intimate wedding setting in a back garden to illustrate to couple’s that smaller outdoor weddings in more laid back settings can be just as beautiful as larger ones in grand spaces. Kelsie explains…

This shoot was so refreshing to be a part of, capturing an entire wedding day set-up within a back garden just goes to show the incredible results you can achieve no matter the location and number of guests at your wedding. Micro, intig, mate weddings can be just as special as the bigger ones (if not more so) and a lack of venue doesn’t mean you have to settle for minimal design and creativity. Let your imagination run wild and have the wedding day you’ve dreamt of no matter where you are! The wide array of lighting on this shoot made such a difference and is definitely a top tip for creating an amazing atmosphere, day and night.

There is so much inspiration to be had in this shoot. The ceremony area, with its eclectic mix of vintage furniture as seating, incredible wooden ceremony alter and aisle lined with Persian style rugs, is genius with a colour palette that looks majestic against the late summer glow of the setting sun. We also LOVE to two table settings with it’s play on both texture and lighting, especially the top table. Amy and the creative team behind this shoot used fairy, candle and festoon lighting to elevate the top table space in the evening and we are in awe of it. The play of light and dark in these images is just so good and the overall atmosphere created within this setting is both whimsical and romantic.

The idea for the shoot came from wanting to show couples that you can have a beautiful back garden wedding here in the UK. With the right suppliers and decor, you can achieve something stunning for your big day without traveling to the South of France or Italy. I wanted to create a luxury ceremony area using our sofas and armchairs, and when the light was right, we captured something simply stunning. I love how creative you can be with lighting, and I wanted to create a truly breathtaking top table area, with twinkly fairy lights above and below so you felt surrounded by lights.

This was my first organised styled shoot, and I knew I wanted it to be all about the decor. So I chose a small group of suppliers who I have worked with in the wedding industry for years and knew would absolutely nail it! Mia Sylvia did the styling, textile design and draping, and I knew she would see my vision and create something beautiful.

I always knew Kelsie was the perfect photographer for this shoot. Her editing style is exactly what I was looking for in terms of warmth, and really capturing all the details we had created on the day.

British Grown & Amazing Lighting…

Emma from Passion flowers by Emma Spowage is a local florist and grows her own flowers which was so important to show how British grown flowers can create something amazing. Emma did an incredible hanging installation above the table, which we then repurposed for the ceremony, showing how you can reuse your flowers on your day.

Dreamwave Events I always knew would be a big part of this shoot as I wanted to create an amazing lighting installation for our top table set. When it was getting dark this really came into its own, and Dave took my rather dodgy sketch and made it a reality with a beautiful fairy light canopy which led under the table and really gave the WOW factor to this shoot! This is so achievable, and these guys can create stunning installations (almost!) anywhere!

Stationery was provided by Gemma from Dream Wild who was actually a previous bride of mine! When I saw a few years ago she had launched her own business, which I absolutely loved, I knew I wanted her involved!

Lucky & Co created a stunning pressed flower cake perfect for this shoot and CMA Hire supplying their crockery, cutlery and glassware, who have the best collection around.

I want this shoot to give couples the vision to create something amazing in an outdoor space and not be afraid to plan something in your garden, or at an outdoor venue.
