1960s Retro Meets Modern Wedding Inspiration

We have such an awesome inspiration shoot to share with your eyes today, put together by wedding planner and stylist Jen of My Pretties UK, and captured by the brilliant Rosanna Lilly Photography – a photographer we are super proud to have as a member of our Festival Wedding Directory.

Here Comes The Sun features a theme that has been inspired by the ‘groovy baby’ era of the 1960’s and therefore boasts the vintage inspired patterns, decor, clothes, style and colours that we associate with this time. Jen explains…

I’m a bit obsessed with this fun colour palette and how much it reminds me of my Gran’s front room as I was growing up. I was brought up with parents from the 60’s and my Dad is the biggest Beatles fan. I wanted to merge a modern wedding with a true 60’s vibe that I think will appeal to cool couples with a love of all things vintage.

There is so much about this shoot that is setting our hearts on fire today. The vibe, styling and poses of the couple; the incredible flower bombs hanging above the vibrant, intimate table setting; the two twiggy-esque wedding dresses made especially by Klue Doll; the delicious colour palette of mustard, honey and yellow; the cake sitting nicely on top of a velvet stool – it is full of so many great ideas, especially when it comes to the decor and couple styling. We LOVE it in a major way and have no doubt you all will too!

I organised a fun styled shoot in Yorkshire last summer with some of my favourite local suppliers. It was a beautiful sunny day which really reflected the whole vibe of this shoot.

I’m a bit obsessed with this fun colour palette and how much it reminds me of my Gran’s front room as I was growing up. I was brought up with parents from the 60’s and my Dad is the biggest Beatles fan. I wanted to merge a modern wedding with a true 60’s vibe that I think will appeal to cool couples with a love of all things vintage.

Bright yellow, mustard yellow and orange were used to create this fun and vibrant design.

River Mills Ballroom in Selby is such a cool venue with bag of space and potential inside. We chose to shoot in the smaller ceremony room with it’s white washed walls and exposed beams, the perfect blank canvas.

Emma from The Petal Studio created three huge flower bombs which hung from the beam over the table, they looked so cool.

Stationery was designed by Somers Creative. I love the classic sixties shapes and bold text. Where the ribbon ends used the stationery design to create the cutest matching two tier cake.

The whole vibe was finished off perfectly by Kelly at Klue Doll, who designed and created two stunning sixties inspired dresses for our beautiful Model Charlotte.

Just goes to show, that small intimate weddings can still have bags of personality.
