So without further ado, allow me to introduce you to Jon of Seventh Second…
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m Jon and I help run Seventh Second and perform in a few of the bands we promote. I’ve been playing the bass professionally for over 15 years and been lucky enough to perform all over the world and at loads of fantastic weddings. I’m based in London and if I’m not working on, performing or listening to music I spend time with my lovely wife and if she’s busy I like to keep active with tennis, cycling and open water swimming.
If you had the chance to go to any music festival, which one would it be and why?
I like this question! I’m not sure if this counts but I’d want to go back in time and head to the first Woodstock festival. It was pretty chaotic but to witness some of the musicians during that crazy time in history would be pretty amazing. To see Jimi Hendrix’s 2-hour performance alone would be enough for me!
What made you decide to start Seventh Second and how does it work?
Some friends and I from music college decided to start up the website after years of performing together. Our bands were getting very busy and so we built the website so everything that we offered was under one roof. It was very important to us to not lose that direct connection with clients that we’d always had so we made sure that it was only us the musicians who spoke to clients and created their perfect live music experience. We are still run by musicians who perform in the bands you see on the website, so when you speak to us, you are speaking to the members of the wedding bands you are looking at. We are here 7 days a week 10 am to 10 pm to help in any way obligation-free.
What sort of bands and performers can our readers expect to find on Seventh Second?
We have all sorts of live wedding bands on show. We like to keep our band selection small, select and brilliant with our roster currently showcasing folk acoustic acts, swing and Motown bands, festival bands, soul and jazz bands, Latin acts, rock and indie bands and 1920s and other unique themed wedding bands amongst others. Soloists, duos, trios and even massive 20-piece wedding bands are all on offer.
Tell us about the different packages you offer? Do you offer a service that helps couple pick the right band?

Couples simply tell us what kind of band they are dreaming of and we pool all our musicians together and create it for them at no extra cost. We are unique in that way and it’s a lot of fun creating one of a kind bands for people. We’ve created some awesome bands over the years from 15-piece Mumford and Sons, festival styled acoustic mega bands to a harp, accordion and DJ three-piece band. That last one sounds mad but it worked really well!
We are also able to offer great discounts and freebies when people book multiple or larger bands and we are also trying to help couples during the pandemic by offering 15% off any booking.
You mentioned you are offering 15% off your bands to help couples planning a wedding during Covid-19. This is awesome. Can you tell us a little bit more about that?
Everyone has been struggling during the pandemic and we wanted to do what we could to help. We’ve written useful guides, rebooked weddings for our clients at no extra cost, given free advice to worried couples and also lowered all our prices by 15% for the foreseeable future. We plan to keep this discount running well into 2021 as we know that even though the pandemic may be over, everyone, especially wedding couples have been and will still be struggling. More than ever we want couples to have weddings of their dreams. They deserve it after the year we’ve all had so far!
If our readers were to book their band through you, what can they expect?
They can expect honest, expert help and advice every step of the way from real musicians who care about what they do. From the initial enquiry to the final booking, we are there every step of the way to guide couples through all the options and help them pick the best live band for them. We don’t charge commission or booking fees to keep prices low and are available 7 days a week 10 am to 10 pm to help in any way. We are always in contact with couples right up to the wedding day so they feel reassured and excited!
We like to share all our experience with couples so they get the most out of their live wedding band and one tip we always share is to try and plan your wedding bands live sets around your evening food as no one likes to dance on a full stomach. You’ll have a packed dance floor full of happy dancing feet that way.
We saw on your website that you have a blog. Can you tell us a bit more about this and the content you provide for readers?
After years of speaking to wedding couples, we realised that they had a lot of really good questions about wedding entertainment but were struggling to find really good answers. We’ve gone a bit all out with our blog and are on a mission to answer every single question a couple could have when it comes to booking a live wedding band. We want it to be the ultimate resource so couples feel reassured and in the know when booking a live band. It’s informative and helpful but also easy to read.
What’s is the best advice you can give when it comes to choosing a wedding band?
Oh wow, I have loads of advice and we have a couple of great guides in our blog on this topic but I’d say my best advice would be to have a good budget in mind, pick a band that performs songs you and your guests will love and most importantly, choose a band that you can let loose and have a tonne of fun with! Having a live band at your wedding is pretty awesome so enjoy every minute of it!
Finally, what’s your life quote/motto?
Cool question! My wife, friends and bandmates have mentioned that I always use the phrase…
“there’s always a way”
…when we are dealing with a seemingly impossible problem or stressful situation. I like to problem-solve and regardless of the odds, I will always find a way to solve a problem for someone.
