Moku Photography are a husband and wife duo Katie and Dave, who specialise in reportage, documentary style photography and capturing unposed, natural moments as they happen. With a huge passion for music, art, photography and travel, Katie and Dave have been working together now for 14 years so know exactly how to bring the best out of each other. They work seamlessly to capture your wedding day, blending in with the crowd so the moments they do capture are when you are your guests are most relaxed and at your best.
We asked Katie and Dave about their passion for photography, how their love for travelling has influenced their style and, most importantly, what is their favourite festival!!

Tell Us A Little Bit About Yourselves?
We are Katie & Dave, we have been together for 14 years. We are both artists as well as Photographers. We both have loved being creative since we were young and started taking photos around 15 years of age, falling in love with Black & White film and printing in Darkrooms, before the advent of digital photography.
When we met we instantly shared a love of art, photography and music. We started to work together on art projects and soon started our own business making and exhibiting sculptures & paintings. Working on a diverse range of creative projects together for over a decade means that we now work together seamlessly and intuitively. Whether it’s planning a Wedding shoot, or organising an international art show, we love a creative challenge.
Dave started working professionally as a photographer working with bands, covering live shows & festivals as well as shooting behind the scenes on film sets for BBC & Film4.
Photographing live gigs and also on set for film productions was perfect experience for Wedding shoots, a combination of having to be unobtrusive and yet in the right place at the right time to get the shot. Working under pressure and delivering professional images for a variety of clients has been a great foundation for photographing Weddings.
If You Had The Chance To Go To Any Music Festival, Which One Would It Be And Why?
Glastonbury festival has been a favourite for years and Katie & I have great memories from times there. I have to say that Burning Man festival in USA would be amazing for photographs, and having friends who have been there its now top of the list for our dream festival experience.
What Made You Decide To Go Into Wedding Photography?
We started photographing weddings at the request of friends who were looking for a photographer that would document the day but be relaxed and not overwhelm the Bride & Groom or guests. We enjoyed getting great images for our friends and so realised it would be a great addition to our creative work.
Tell Us About Your Photography Style and What Inspires You?
Our style would best be described as reportage / documentary approach to Wedding shoots. We love natural unposed moments and are inspired by the classic photography of Henri Cartier Bresson, Annie Lebowitz, Martin Parr and numerous others. We have a love for good Black & White images but also love colour too, whatever best suits the moment.
You Mentioned You Do Alot of Travelling; How Has this Influenced Your Photography Style?
We have travelled to many countries, including Japan, New Zealand, USA , Laos, Thailand & Bali . When we travel we do our best to respect local cultures and not offend anyone when taking candid photos. I feel this has given us a sensitive approach to people and situations, which enables us to capture great images without being intrusive.
What Do You Love The Most About Capturing Weddings?
Weddings are a celebration and coming together of people that provides so many great emotional moments to photograph. There are always different scenarios unfolding and the satisfying part of the job is to provide images of the day that surprise and delight the client.
What Are The Benefits of Having Two Photographers at a Wedding?
As a team of two photographers we can cover many angles at once. We can split up and cover the preparations of Bride & Groom before the ceremony and be able to capture a wider range of moments during the day’s celebrations. We bring two different photographer’s perspectives and ideas to the day, making sure that nothing is missed.
Tell Us About The Different Packages You Offer?
We offer bespoke packages tailored to suit the needs of the client. Our packages start with a short booking for couples on a budget who only want the main ceremony & portraits photographed, to a full day from Bride & Groom prep to the reception party in the evening. We have covered international destination weddings too and are always happy to travel to great locations.
If our readers were to book you for their wedding, what can they expect?
When couples enquire and make a booking we like to meet up / chat with them to discuss the location and planning of the days events. We discuss all the details of the day & their expectations of what they would like from us as the photographers. As well as covering the ceremony & reception, we like to find time and locations for portraits of the couple, this usually is a great opportunity to create unique moments to photograph the happy couple away from the guests for a short time.
What is the best advice you can give when it comes to choosing a wedding photographer?
Our best advice is to really pick a photographer whose work you like & trust their approach will suit your expectations. Finding the right vibe on a personal level between client & photographer can make everyone feel relaxed and lead to great moments and images to treasure.
