As part of our Festival Brides Love series, we asked Matt a few questions about his passion for photography, his style and what he can offer you on your wedding day.
Tell us about yourself?
I’m Matt and I’m a photographer based in the South West. I first got into documenting weddings during my first year at the University for the Creative Arts in 2012 when asked to capture a friends wedding. Since then I have now captured over 150 weddings while living in Wiltshire with my girlfriend Charlotte and our little toy poodle Bear.
What made you decide to get into photography?
Quite simply, I love photography and have had a ‘proper’ camera since I was 16 taking photos of my friends jumping into rivers. I won my first award in 1997 at the age of 7*
*it was a local Boots competition with a penguin photo but still!
Tell us about your photography style?
I describe my style as a creative documentary – capturing wedding as they happen from as well as from unique angles and positions while still remaining as discreet as possible.
What moment are you most proud of in your profession?
I’ve had times when handing over an album and bringing the couple to tears (happy ones!) when they see their photos, that’s always special. But having people trust me to capture their big day makes me proud.
What do you love about wedding photography?
Capturing weddings has such a rewarding feeling. Simply getting to know a couple, being a part of their special day and finally delivering their photos is amazing and something I take great pride in. Especially knowing that they have photos I’ve taken on their walls and around their homes to remind them of their special day.
What is your greatest fear when you are working on a wedding?
Being attacked by wolves. I think like most photographers the fear of all my equipment suddenly breaking down would be it, although for that to happen would be some serious bad luck as I have 2 or 3 backups of everything and I’ve not even had to use them yet.
What packages do you offer?
I offer 3 packages. 8, 10 and unlimited hours. Starting from £1500. Typically 8 hours would cover your ceremony until your first dance. So from there, you can choose to increase hours to cover bridal prep and more dancing if you wish. With the ultimate being the unlimited hours where I will stay until the wedding is over, even if that is 1 am! To get loads of dancing photos once everyone is fully ‘relaxed’ and had a drink or 3.
What can we expect having you as our photographer?
