Romantic Outdoor Spring Wedding Ideas

Good afternoon beautiful people. I hope you are all having a good week so far.

We have an absolutely gorgeous styled wedding shoot to share with your eyes today – put together and captured by the dream that is Esme Whiteside Photography and styled to perfection by Rebecca Marie Weddings. Not only is it filled with so many great ideas for your wedding day (which we will explore in more detail shortly), it also serves as a brilliant example of when a wedding theme, in this case ethereal spring romance, is executed beautifully within each and every element, including the dark signature editing style of Esme’s photography. Every aspect within this shoot flows seamlessly into one another and we adore it!

Inspired by the ruins found on the grounds of Jervaulx Abbey, Esme and Rebecca set out to create an outdoor wedding set up with alfresco ceremony and dining areas. They wanted it to be stylish, romantic and feminine, and used the wonderful light created by golden hour to emphasis the ethereal vibe. The colour palette was a mix of neutral muted hues coupled with blush and stone to compliment both the venue and the colours found in early Spring. Rebecca explains…

For the styling I took inspiration from the ruins themselves. There is always a feeling of mystery when walking through these types of settings and I felt that the ‘floating’ lanterns were a nod to this. I wanted to demonstrate how you can create a dramatic and beautiful dining experience amongst any kind of setting, it doesn’t necessarily have to be rustic or follow a countryside inspired route just because of the surroundings. We kept colours muted to compliment the colour of the stone with pops of Spring, in anticipation for the new season!

There is so much to love about this shoot. From the aged beauty of the stationery to the INCREDIBLE ruffled cake – there is not one element that we don’t like. The white lanterns, which hang beautifully above the table setting, look so good against the backdrop of the ruined walls and we love the sweet patterned floral biscuits and heart shaped cakes provided as favours. The flowers, which tie everything together so perfectly, have a wild romance to them which we absolutely adore and is especially evident in the brides beautiful bouquet tied together by a cascade of ribbons. And then we come to our bride and groom! Sophisticated, refined, elegant and ethereal are the words I would describe their style, especially the gorgeous bride who wears not one but two intricately designed wedding dresses that match the allure of the venue and decor beautifully.

Ethereal Romance In Spring…

Jervaulx Abbey is the most beautiful location and wedding venue. For the most part it’s outdoors, with the most amazing ruined monastery. I wanted to use this spot as the most incredible outdoors wedding venue, with alfresco ceremony and dining. I wanted it to be really stylish, but give super romantic springtime vibes. How the light comes through the abbey in the afternoon is just beautiful, ethereal golden hour! It has so many archways and crumbling ruins, it was perfect.

Rebecca Marie Weddings styled this dream for me. She created a long table scape set for 16, with hanging lanterns, and a rustic, organic feel and colour palette. She did a beautiful job of tying in the style with the historical space, and it all blended seamlessly, with a feminine and organic feel. Rebecca says…

Where the Ribbon Ends created a real show stopping cake, with a layered organic ruffled effect, in the stone and blush colours. It was incredible! White Orchid Print and Design created a stationery suite and place cards and menus that were just perfect. In the stone, mauve and blush colours, with deckled torn edge paper and beautiful calligraphy, it added a real fine art elevation to the details.”

We had two dresses from the incredible Riki Dalal. The one shoulder glamorous Miley gown and the more romantic strapless Juliet. Both dresses were so beautiful and created a really couture look. Miley featured lots of sparkle and daring elements with the cut out and leg split, but still really feminine with the large over skirt. Juliet featured gorgeous floral appliques and gave a more romantic feel. The gowns paired with Alabaster Dreams headpiece and hairpins worked perfectly. Rachael custom made the blush floral pieces and they were real beauties. Nala and Knot did the most beautiful job on hair and makeup! They went for a relaxed, undone, glowy but glamorous look on Natalia that let the gowns and accessories do the talking.
