Happy Easter Monday beauties! What a gorgeous weekend it’s been so far! If you picked your spring wedding to fall over the last few days, then you really did pick a fabulous weekend to get hitched, especially if you went full festival and hosted an outdoor wedding. The sunshine has been absolutely glorious!

We are delighted to share today’s real wedding with you, which is a stunning destination wedding brought to us by Portugese videographers Edgar and Rita from Edgar Felix Videography. This full-time duo effortlessly captured the romance and joy of this beautiful pair; Elodie and Jérémy’s destination wedding (the couple live in France but always dreamed of hosting their wedding in Portugal which is where Elodie is from!) was held at the most beautiful location – Quinta Lago dos Cisnes.

If your budget allows, hire a videographer! I assure you that you will not regret it – we watch our wedding video all the time!

Together with the venue, they styled the space using the most outstanding foliage and lighting installations, resulting in a warm, magical and utterly breathtaking ceremony and reception space. The overall effect of their chosen jungle theme was quite outstanding, as the venue and wedding team incorporated palm prints, natural over-sized leaf plants, and chic, modern table decor.

Captured in snapshots by Arte Magna, another brilliantly creative supplier involved in this chic boho celebration, the day wedding featured an intimate humanist ceremony, a colourful wool-passing guest ritual and simply overflowed with romance, love and a melting pot of styles taking on traditional Portugese features with delicate French touches and inspiration.

Married in Portugal Surrounded by Friends and Family

After 11 years of love story we finally decided to get married. We live in France but always envisioned our wedding to take place in Portugal surrounded by all the people we love.

We were married at Quinta Lago dos Cisnes in Amares. We found our location on the internet, and after visiting it, we just had that glowing feeling about it. We didn’t hesitate to book, and we loved how they understood our vision.

Humanist Ceremony Conducted by Best Friend

We had a ‘Ceremony Laic’, which is French for a humanist, spiritual ceremony. We had simple and plain folding chairs for our guests, and the ceremony was animated by one of our best friends. We exchanged alliances with games of hand (Asian inspiration), and the end of the ceremony was super colourful with exchanges of woollen balls by guests. We decorated the venue with eucalyptus leaf and peony flowers.

Jungle Theme with Natural White Flowers

We chose the decor with the help of our event supplier, and ended up going for an urban, outdoor jungle theme with lots of pretty white flowers. Following this, we gave our guests a DIY project wedding favour to take home – a bomb of seeds to plant. We hired Feedback Produçoes and a brilliant saxophonist to entertain our guests from day to night.

Portugese Soup, Strawberries & Cream and Midnight Gourmet Hamburgers

All of our wedding stationery, including table plans, menus and place cards, were made by the team at the wedding venue. They also handled the catering. We started off with a vegetable cream soup, followed by either fish or veal with vegetables and rice. For dessert, we had chocolate fondant with ice cream and our delicious wedding cake with strawberries and cream! We also had a midnight snack for guests – a traditional Portuguese soup and gourmet hamburgers.

Pretty and Simple Boho Dress and Suit from Tom Ford

My wedding dress was designed and created by Rembo Styling. It had a simple open back, felt so light to wear and was beautifully refined with lace detailing. I added some pretty palm leaf gold handle jewellery by Maje.

I wore shiny golden Patricia Blanchet shoes with small heels – I managed to wear these all day long! I wore natural flowers in my hair which I had styled by a local village hairdresser. She also did my make-up for me. Jeremy wore a suit from Tom Ford.

Incredible Photographer and Videographer to Capture the Magical Moments

We hired the amazing Arte Magna to capture our day, and we were so pleased with their work. They also introduced us to our videographer. In the beginning we hesitated to hire a videographer, but fortunately for us, we did end up choosing Edgar Felix to create a film of our special day. The video is totally different from the photos, as more emotion and feeling is captured in it. As soon as we met them, we knew they were the right videographers for us – they really put our minds at ease, and transcribed our magical day so beautifully. We even hired them pre-wedding to film us at home with family and friends, which went down a storm when we played it for guests during the wedding! The Edgar Félix team were incredibly professional from start to finish –  their videos are so different to other work I’ve seen….

Favourite Moment

It’s far too difficult to choose a favourite moment. We enjoyed every moment!

Any Advice?

Your choice of suppliers is VERY important. For us, we had to be confident in who we had working on our wedding and they had to be well established.

If your budget allows, hire a videographer! I assure you that you will not regret it – we watch our wedding video all the time. Also, on the day of the wedding, take time to enjoy all the moments, and don’t stress about the organisation. Just trust that the people around you will make things happen on the day.
