Channeling the dusty terracotta earthy tones of the gorgeous Californian desert, today’s beautiful styled wedding shoot mixes earthy colour palettes with copper disco balls, modern bohemian styling of both the decor and couple, stripped back flowers in warm toffee tones (got to love those roses) and, last but certainly not least, plenty of simple yet affective wedding ideas to sink your teeth into for your own wedding day. I am talking about the intimate low sweetheart table where one corner is filled with patterned tiles sourced from Tulum (oh how I love this idea), the use of textiles to create texture, the relaxed yet stylish vibe to the bride and groom (look closely and you can see see the shimmer of tiny sparkly dots on her top) and the ever so slightly retro vibe to the stationery. But most of all, what we love about this shoot is how it has executed the ‘desert theme’ in a more subtle focusing more on the use of colour, texture and tone over the more obvious characteristics of the desert.
Desert Disco in the brain child of Alex and Madi Photography, a husband and wife team who have just recently relocated to the UK from California. Madi says…
Being from California, I’m a bit obsessed with the desert, it’s colors, its sunshine, its tacos! So we wanted to create and desert disco elopement styled shoot… in London- tacos, margaritas, & disco balls! We had the absolute best team. I can’t even believe it. I think this fits with Festival Brides because of its warm, playful and detailed nature.
And we couldn’t agree with you more Madi!
Featuring a line up of fantastic UK wedding suppliers, Madi shares with us more details on Desert Disco and the trends she was exploring (we see you Disco balls).
Enjoy lovely people.
Desert Disco…
Being from California, I’m a bit obsessed with the desert, it’s colours, it’s sunshine, it’s tacos (and margs)! So we wanted to create and desert inspired styled shoot, but on the green island of the UK! We wanted to show couples in the UK how to have a desert inspired wedding, even if we are surrounded by green!
We found a blank slate and new venue called Core Clapton Events, which allowed us the space and freedom to create a desert scene. Botanics Florist created two dried palm towers with warm toffee roses scattered within. Then we thought, what better way to celebrate in the desert than with disco balls, especially as it’s a growing trend this year.
The Collect Co Creative then brought all the details together for the most perfect tablescape right out of a southwestern desert sunset! She used tiles that she found in boutique shops all around Tulum and Cancun and made gorgeous margaritas.
Amalina Bakes made us a cake inspired the lime-washed walls of desert architecture and was styled with mini disco balls as well.
