With laidback elopement style weddings slowly shifting to centre stage, we wanted to showcase options that reflect a more simplistic and intimate approach to wedding styling. Challenging the typical expectations of a wedding, we juxtaposed classic bridal elements like a veil, a tiara or embellished fabrics, with non-traditional dress colours and styling details like trousers with high hemlines.

Sand Dunes and Laidback Bridal Vibes…

Ever wish to be wed in the vast, dramatic surroundings of a desert? Maybe the rolling dunes of the Sahara? This styled shoot was inspired by a desert landscape with its neutral colour palette and dry vegetation set against an expansive blue sky.
Covid may have dampened our plans for exotic destination weddings, but that doesn’t mean that Europe is out of reach. This styled shoot was a collaboration between British and German wedding suppliers in an attempt to show a little love to those less well-known areas of beauty, whilst staying a little closer to home. We found the perfect landscape in Hamburg, Germany: Boberger dunes is an utterly remarkable spot located just outside Hamburg city. Offering a truly unique and breathtaking backdrop for the shoot, the dunes sit nestled within a nature reserve.

The warmth of the evening glow and the subdued colour palette of the surroundings, inspired the choice of outfits which were provided by Seni Dey. Blush, muted blue and nude tones balanced wonderfully with the dried, sandy landscape. With the unpredictability of the desert at the back of our minds, we opted for outfits that were made to move, breathe and look effortlessly stylish whilst remaining beautifully minimal.
A daring dusky blue combination of trousers, top and cape was pulled together by a silver bouquet headpiece by Sixpenny Bride. The headpiece’s intricately woven leaves, silver roses and wildflowers contrasted with the soft flow of fabrics and minimal styling beautifully. Paired with the model’s voluminous curls it provided an unforgettable look with a touch of vintage nostalgia.
With an ankle-skimming hemline and open back detailing, the second look was a little modest with a modern, elegant edge. A wide brim hat clustered with wild dried flowers, reminiscent of Edwardian fashion, gave it a unique touch.
Who would have thought that a blush thigh-length dress could be bridal? A long minimal veil, drop earrings and pointed-toe stilettos transformed the sequin dress of the third look into a bold, modern bridal outfit.
The styling was perfectly complemented by natural, effortlessly stunning makeup and hair by Henrike Bleil.
With a desert elopement in mind, Florist Ricarda Grimm used dried flowers only, making her creations perfect for harsh climates, with the added benefit of longevity. The flowers were delicately positioned around a hat and combined to make a stunning bouquet which drew in the muted tones of the surroundings without overpowering the theme. The decoration was kept minimal with architectural copper accents, soft flowing fabrics and subtly patterned plate settings. This was topped off with unique, laser-cut
stationery by Pen and Fold which stunned with its elegant
monogram and intricate fastening.
