Dramatic, powerful, fierce and beautiful are the four words we would use to describe the amazing new collection of bridal crowns and jewellery from Tilly Thomas Lux. Rooted in strength, Cleopatra is inspired by Egyptian mythology and symbolism and aims to honour women and the feminine power within. It is a collection that we have so much love for, not only because it carries the well known glitzy boho signature style of Tilly Thomas Lux that we adore, but also because of the very roots it was designed on…

These designs draw on some of my greatest and most powerful influences, featuring bold geometric shapes, the free-flying birds of my childhood and they pay homage to one of my all time favourite queens, the mighty Cleopatra.

This collection honours women, as all my pieces do in some way, shape or form – the powerful, the gentle, the daring and the beautiful. As I was designing I realised that this collection is also rooted in strength, in resolution, steadfastness and in feminine power. I hope you love it as much as I do

When you learn about the inspiration behind a collection, it brings a whole new meaning to each of the individual pieces. You view them differently and that is certainly what has happened to us with this gorgeous collection. We love that it empowers women and who doesn’t want to feel empowered on their wedding day!

This shoot, put together to showcase the new collection, is a collaboration between Sally of Tilly Thomas Lux and the amazing Jo Irving of Lovehair and was captured on the shores of Portinax in Ibiza by Mar Photography. Take me there now please!!

Cleopatra….

In collaboration with some of my amazing industry friends including my girl Jo from Lovehair! We packed our sparkly little bags (ok, I admit, they were full-to-bursting!) and headed to Ibiza to shoot my new Cleopatra pieces, a place that has long inspired and beguiled me. Against the glittering cerulean waters, soft white sand and endless skies, I saw my designs come to life – and do you know what? It felt a little bit magical.

Egyptian mythology and symbolism was my starting point for a number of these pieces; the avian Shu hair clips are resplendent with the pure joy of flight, inspired by the ancient Egyptian god of light and air.

Rooted In Strength….

The collection features two pairs of statement earrings – Ra, named in an ode to the Sun God, and Tuya which means “ray of light”, both of which shine beautifully in the sun.

The Nofret crown is truly fit for a goddess and there are also matching hair clips available. I adore Hathor arm cuffs which can be worn just as easily with a summer frock or a gorgeous wedding dress.

New Bohemian….

Words By Jo Irving

I absolutely loved researching hair for this shoot. I wanted to create something fresh, with clean, unfussy lines so that the accessories were the focus.

I’m currently obsessed with the idea of a ‘new bohemian’, an undone look for strong, almost warrior like women and was keen to make it work here.

Jess designed the make up – A look that she has become so well known for – Perfect, sunkissed skin with a modern boho vibe.

We shot this in Portinax in Ibiza last June and used our photographers family hotel as the base. (Es Grop) Portinax is a fairly small cove, but the variations in scenery – Rock, water, pale wood and beautiful stone backdrops made it the perfect place!

I used GHD, Bumble & Bumble, IGK hair and Kevin Murphy.
