Morning Lovely People,
I hope you have all had a lovely weekend.
We have an awesome festival wedding to share with you today.
Inspired by the things they love and the memories they share, Cat and Phil wanted their wedding to be relaxed, natural, informal and to have the fun chilled vibes of a music festival. They wanted there to be no stress, no formality and no tradition. The most important thing to them was for their friends and family to all be together having fun in a field. It sounds like the absolute perfect day to me!
With a love of country walks in the south downs, travelling, lemon picking in Spain, music and simply spending time together at their home in Lewes, it is no surprise that Cat and Phil opted for a personal blessing in a woodland for their ceremony followed by a party in a field. It is also no surprise that everything you see was either made or provided with their two hands or the hands of their friends and family.
Look out for the mouth watering chocolate cake, Cat’s beautiful bohemian meets Woodstock hippy vintage wedding dress and the many special moments captured on camera by Allison Dewey Photography. Cat also offers brilliant advice at the end of this post so make sure you read it.
Over to Cat and Phil…..

Woods, A Field and a Campsite…..
Phil studied forestry at university and he found Bentley Wildfowl Country Park in East Sussex when he attended a woodland fair. It was perfect for what we were looking to do. We held a blessing in the woods and for our reception we used a large field at the park to pitch our wedding tents and also as our campsite. Most of our guests brought their own tents but some close friends and family hired a bell tent provided by The Brighton Bell Tent Company.

A Very Personal Blessing In The Woods….
My mum is a priest for the Church of England so she performed the blessing in the woods. This was so emotional and personal for me. My brother played the cello as I walked down the aisle and my sisters and best friend were my bridesmaids.
All of our friends played a part in the wedding, they all pulled together and helped us decorate the woods and the tents, cooking incredible food, performing music all day & night, lending us china tea sets etc. It was so special for us and we are forever grateful.

Paella and Amazing Mums….
For our wedding meal we had Paella by Crocus Paella. We worked on a lemon farm in Spain and ate Paella everyday. We love it and wanted this to be apart of our day. The rest of the food were supplied by our amazing Mums! They cooked for England – Salads, Quiche, cheese boards, breads, cream teas, cakes, nibbles, crudités and so much more. They were amazing!

Bunting, Hessian Sacks and a bath filled with booze!
We decorated the venue with meters and meters of bunting! We also collected glass jars and put candles in them and strung them together and had outside candles and outdoor lights. We used hessian sacks for table runners, hay bales for seating, a bath filled to the brim with Prosecco, wine & ice, a cream tea table with beautiful china teacups & saucers and dried flowers for table settings with candles in sand. It was all very DIY and hands on.

Favourite Moment….
Too many to choose from…. Just sitting in the sun, surrounded by our friends and family listening to our favourite music and eating amazing food. Oh and walking into the woodland seeing all my loved ones and marrying the man of my dreams.

Any Advice….
Enjoy it. Enjoy the time planning things together. It has to be about both of you so compromise. Do not stress out about small things. Take ideas from around your life style and what you both enjoy doing. Use your friends and families creative talents. Don’t feel afraid of asking people to get involved, it’s an honour to be asked. Spend wisely, there are lots of ideas to be gathered from friends and family, you’d be surprised what you can do and make yourself.
We will be sharing Cat and Phil’s first dance under Independent Love Song later on today and you do not want to miss it!
