Modern Luxe Wedding Ideas in Pastel Colours

We are taking you on a journey of pastel colours today in this oh so pretty and oh so gorgeous wedding inspiration shoot by BelleBijoux Events featuring a beautiful real life couple and a list of very talented suppliers showcasing what they do best!

As the name suggests, the shoot was inspired by the sweet and tantalising colour hues of Candyfloss and explores the theme of modern bohemian luxury, but with pockets of retro styling here and there. It has completely converted me on using hues of pink within your wedding decor (I am usually a warm toned kind of girl) especially within the flowers which steal the show in this shoot. They are absolutely gorgeous and we have fallen head over heels in love with them. The delicate cascading waterfall bouquet is so beautiful and goes brilliantly with the intricate detail of the Alexandra Grecco embroidered dress, supplied by one of our Festival Wedding Directory member’s Ghost Orchid Bride.

If you are a lover of pretty delicate things then you are going to adore this shoot. It comes with a wealth of ideas and inspiration, for every aspect of your day, and is displayed in such an elegant, tasteful and beautiful way. We love it!

Look out for the ceremony setting (my favourite part), the gorgeous floral table plan and the perspex cake stand filled with lush pastel coloured flowers – such a great way of elevating your wedding cake that one step further.

The concept of the shoot came together as Lucy and Megan, from BelleBijoux, wanted to create something fun and vibrant with an underlying retro vibe. We wanted it show modernity and pastel colour but not, so it was too ‘in your face’.

We firstly created a pin board, then knew from this we needed to work with the AMAZING Dottie and Sam from Hyde Park Flower Club. Their floral designs are notably wild and bohemian, as-well as being full of vivacious colours and textures. We love that they are very eco conscious too. Of course, they loved the ideas and came up trumps using sprayed florals and gypsophilia to create the cloud like fluffy design we so desperately wanted, hence the title ‘Candyfloss Dreams’.

Dottie had this vision of a statement long trailing bouquet. Using astilbe, hydrangea’s, roses, ferns, cymbidium orchids and even a sprig or two of dried asparagus. They really did meet all they said and more. It was the showstopping piece of the day.

The venue, Dunedin Country House, is a luxurious venue, set in the small East Yorkshire village called Patrington. Dunedin oozes style and sophistication, yet it is a blank canvas when it comes to styling so anything goes. We’re really lucky as it’s local to us and we’re a main supplier here, so get to work there a lot. Thus, giving us an advantage to know what works well and where.

We knew we wanted to create a real life, sellable shoot hence us showing how a typical wedding could look. The ceremony design showed an aisle of ‘floating’ like clouds of puff gypsophilia sat upon clear acrylic plinths, an altar décor of our Moon gate adorned with palm spears, striking hydrangeas and, in true Hyde Park style, some pampas in there. Coloured pillar candles Bolsius and tapered sleek dinner candles by Ester & Erik, sat amongst our delicate glass candle ware.

We re-used all the above in a sweet like table scape of an intimate dining experience. As most couples work with a budget, we are firm believers for re-using and abusing items from a ceremony area with a reception. Why pay for things twice when there is no need.

We asked, our lovely supplier gal friend Emilia Kate Photography to join us. We’ve worked with Emilia a fair few times now and she is one of the best photographers in our area. Her ability to capture natural shots without the pressure is wonderful. She shot the true moments including the vibrancy of it all. Plus, she’s an utter gem to be around.

Emilia worked with Sarah Taylor, as a videographer, she captures moments without really even clicking the button, her detailed images really documented the true intimacy of the couple, as-well as the essence and colours of the shoot.

Texture Meets Luxury…

Lo from Somers Creative is a stationery extraordinaire! Her talents are endless and her creations are inspiring. We literally showed Lo our ideas and she bowled us over with her texture and luxury prints, full of a flat lay of must have wedding stationery, place names and menu cards with the added colourful tassel to finish it off. Not to mention the clear perspex welcome sign she created to keep fluidity with our clear, glass like elements.

We are known on our shoots for styling up a good table plan. Table Plans are sometimes a forgotten area and considering your attending guests spend a good 3-4 minutes pondering where they and others are sat, it’s a main focal point of a wedding day so it needs the WOW factor. Our whole aim was fluidity throughout so keeping this in mind we created a statement piece using lots of florals, clear stands and little easels to sit Somers creatives plan cards upon. It just all worked better than we thought.

Grace from Grace Eva Cakes is lady who is now definitely a huge influencer in the cake world. Her dedication and intricate detail to her cakes is just wonderful. She names all her cakes and this one is Charlotte. She is classy, definitely full of luxury, and princess like so quite fitting.

We knew from the off that with our retro and modern theme, Katey’s dresses at Ghost Orchid Bride would be the ones for this shoot. We loved the lavender colour and the intimate sheer detail of the neckline on the ‘Wilder’ dress by Alexandra Grecco. We also loved the simplicity of the white dress with sheer dot puff sleeves of ‘Eleanor’ by Chantel Lauren. Both dresses oozed style and detail which fitted the brief perfectly. They also fitted our model Jennifer’s figure like a glove.

A muted pink tapered suit from ASOS was chosen for Elliott to wear. Jennifer & Elliott Foxton are professional, part models. They’re actually hero’s in their main jobs as both are paramedics. A true married couple, so their love is completely real.

Unity Rhodes bridal Stylist and Rachel Key were the girls with the know for making our models shine. Their Teamwork and expertise in keeping things modern yet glam was perfect. Unity used The Bobby Pins beaded hair accessories upon Jennifer’s tousled ponytail locks, along with Rachel’s natural and glossy tones, which enhanced Jennifer’s features.

Near Dunedin’s beautiful village like setting, in the vast countryside, is a stunning long secluded road, lined with trees either side. We totally used this as a backdrop for using Miss Figgy the pastel blue, retro Figaro in all her glory. Figgy was another key feature of the day that we just just had to have. We loved the idea of finishing the shoot day off with our married couple driving off into the sunset after a wonderful day. Let’s face it who wouldn’t want a pretty little retro loving on your wedding day?!

The pandemic forced us as wedding stylists to open ourselves up. We wanted to continue inspiring our couples and working with amazing suppliers along the way, all who were in the same mind set at us. Shoots have inspired us all as creatives and we’re so truly thankful for all we have seen or been able to of been part off. ‘Collaboration over competition’ is the way forward.
