For those style savvy brides amongst you, we have the perfect shoot to share with you today. A shoot that challenges the traditional concepts of weddings and dares us to be different.
Inspired by the effortless cool and flamboyant style of Bianca Jagger, today’s shoot features fashion focused bridal attire (a bride in trousers just looks so god damn cool), amazing florals (those flower headdresses though), a fabulous bridal turban, sleek modern stationery and a sophisticated dripping chocolate cake – all captured at the historical Heretat Sabartas in Barcelona, a venue with peeling pink wall paper, walls with tiled borders and 25 acres of vineyards.
Put together by Jo Kemp Photography and featuring some truly amazing wedding talent, not only does this shoot provide food for thought when it comes to unique bridal style but also with sustainability. Jo’s vision was to create wedding inspiration that was built on eco conscious and ethically sourced options for brides – something that we feel very passionate about on Festival Brides. So much waste is created by weddings and we all need to be playing our part to minimise this as much as possible. In this shoot, ecological principles were used when sourcing and creating the flowers. No aggressive foam was used and dried and real flowers including Orchids, Cymbidium, Carnations, Dianthus and Hipericums were all bound with natural materials – it’s small steps but if we all made them, what a massive difference it would make.

History, Nostalgia and Romantic Charm…
We chose an 18th century heritage mansion as our venue for the shoot. Heretat Sabartas oozes history, nostalgia and romantic charm and our model brides were big fans of the gorgeous pink peeling wallpaper, the green room that brings all the mood and the Moorish tiles which spread from floor to walls in many of the areas of the mansion. It’s one of my favourite wedding venues, with beautiful ceremony spots all set within the surrounding 25 acres of vineyards from which they create the Sabartes wines and cava’s.
Effortless and Flamboyant…
So if I had to name one singular favorite icon of style it would have to be Bianca Jagger. So much so that when my mum got married some years ago I opted to wear “the white suit.”
It’s quite the dream to create a bridal shoot with a nod to her effortless cool and flamboyant style and combine that with my desire to try some eco conscious and ethically sourced options for brides.
We created a mood board that was sexy, edgy, very Bianca and decided to give it a modern twist, keeping it simple and current with a black and white colour scheme.
A nod to Bianca with wide leg trousers was key to the look and the “Marlene” palazzo pant two-piece bridal combo and the “Louise” backless silk jumpsuit fit that vision perfectly. Brides please consider trousers! Soo sassy!
The above were sourced from L’arca Vintage along with the perfect dresses. “Artemisia” and “Isce.” One a festival of gorgeous lace and the other a simple shift with a thigh split and delicate lace detail.

Ecological Principles…
Garcia flors the florist was briefed on the need for ecological principles, no aggressive foam was used and dried and real flowers including Orchids, Cymbidium, Carnations, Dianthus and Hipericums were all bound with natural materials. I love the imagination and creativity that went into the unique headpieces and bouquets. Amaranthus is definitely my new favorite addition to bouquets.
Layers and Drips…
A Bridal shoot wouldn’t be complete without some complimentary stationery and wedding cake inspiration. We went for Layers of deep rich chocolate filled with raspberry coulis and covered in French vanilla butter cream with an embossed base and black chocolate drip! Yum!
Bianca Vibes…
We were given a beautiful context for our imagery. The style aesthetic, juxtaposition, varied textures, light and shade and the fact that both our gorgeous models had completely different skin tones. This was embraced by our M.U.A who artistically created subtle, natural and more overtly smoldering looks for them both.
Our models were dancers who could convey through movement and posture the emotion, nostalgia and languid vibe of Bianca, perfect for a video full of romance and charm.
