Modern, chic, industrial and botanical are the words I would use to describe today’s uber cool urban wedding captured by Preserve Studio, featuring planning and decor by Goodstock Productions and stunning florals by Rosemarry and Vine. It is both stylish and laid back with a gorgeous long sleeved modern wedding dress that matches the vibe of the wedding beautifully.
Aly and William’s wedding was the perfect balance of Aly’s love for the industrial and moody and Will’s passion for warmth and plants. Describing themselves as a modern non-traditional couple, they aimed to do things their way. They didn’t bow down to the pressure of tradition and instead bucked the trend by staying true to themselves in all aspects of their planning.
We love the mix-matched bridesmaid dresses in black, juxtaposed by the soft warming autumnal colours of the bouquets. We also love the contrast of the stark white walls of the industrial venue with the warm romance of the candles and peachy greenery of the table decor and flowers. It is a wedding of two halves, balanced to perfection and we love it.

A Cliff, The Ocean and One Knee…
William proposed on his families annual Mendocino trip. Just us on a cliff overlooking the ocean.
Right Under Our Noses…
We actually owned the venue that we got married in. It was both a musical venue space and my photo studio. We had looked at plenty of other places, and almost settled on a local winery, but when it came down to confirming it we realized it just wasn’t us. We realized that our perfect venue was right under our noses.
A Non-traditional Ceremony…
We had a pretty non-traditional ceremony. Everyone sat right where they
would be eating and our “aisle” was right in between the long tables.
A Smart Choice…
We basically told Goodstock, Preserve Studio, and Rosemarry and Vine
what we did and did not like and left the rest up to them, which was
obviously the smartest choice.
Dream Wedding Flowers…
Rosemarry and Vine (preserve studios sister company) did our flowers and we trusted Shannon so much with our photos and we like to keep things as simple as possible, so it was a no-brainer to go with them. Similar situation, Shannon knew what we did and didn’t like and they gave us more than we ever could have dreamed of.
Zero Hesitation…
Preserve Studio were our photographers. After our engagement this was the first and most important decision I made. Being a photographer myself, I’m incredibly particular and also nervous about being on the other side of things. There was zero hesitation bringing on Preserve Studio to not only to capture our wedding, but make the trek to Iceland with us (where we originally wanted to get married). Shannon and her team gave us something that we will cherish forever.

Favourite Moment…
My favorite moment had to have been reading our vows. We are so alike that our vows ended being eerily similar, they were not your typical vows so for them to end up so similar just made me realize how well of a fit for each other we really are. People would have thought we talked about them before- hand or something, but nope!
Any Advice?
Take it slow! As a more “modern couple” it’s hard navigating something that is built up to be about you and your partner – but in reality much of
it is so entertain both other people and to honor very dated traditions. So be sure to be true to yourselves and honor what YOU want, even if it may seem out of the ordinary. At the end of the day your family and friends will have been happy to have just been there to celebrate with you.
