I am loving the retro hippy vibe of today’s gorgeously styled bohemian wedding shoot by Born Boho. Not only is it captured and edited to perfection by Inspire Images, it also comes with a delicious 70’s colour palette of mustard yellow and white, dreamy bohemian decor and the kind of cool, effortless and relaxed bridal styling that makes my heart sing!
With a desire to put together bridal and decor inspiration that was affordable and realistic for couples to achieve, Born Boho, along with a small selection of very talented wedding suppliers, met at The East Yorkshire Barns and created this awesome retro wedding shoot…
We decided we wanted to put together a shoot using a strong retro element together with our bohemian styling, with the idea of achieving a dreamy, hazy, mid summer hippy result. This is something we had not seen a lot of in other styled wedding shoots but is a trend that we think will be big this year. We also wanted to incorporate the season’s high street trends to demonstrate how a Bride can recreate this look without the budget expected for an expensive bridal boutique.
Born Boho
With a cool tasseled leather jacket, 2 wheels, hippy florals, macrame, crochet, vintage finds and dresses from Topshop and ASOS, this is a shoot that proves that achieving your perfect wedding look doesn’t have to cost the earth.

Look out for the lampshades – we LOVE them!
Wild Daises, Yellows and Smock Dresses…
Words by Born Boho
Immediately we envisioned our mood board of big wild daisies, whites, yellows and relaxed smock dresses. Upon informing the selected team of suppliers, we all quickly gathered some amazing ideas to compliment the mood board. The girls from Inspire Photography contributed a Topshop smock, retro cowboy boots and a tassel leather jacket and we sourced the gorgeous fluted sleeve gown from ASOS. We purposely sourced Vintage/used items for this shoot to achieve an influence of the Retro era. It was also very much about experimenting with things we had sourced until we got the look we wanted.
An Amazing Selection of Barns…
We had been given an opportunity to use the very intimate and private venue location of The East Yorkshire Barns. A beautiful wedding venue set deep in the Yorkshire countryside surrounded by fields and quaint country lanes and who rarely allow stylists to orchestrate shoots.
The Barns are exactly what they sound like….a selection of gorgeous barns which have been sympathetically converted and restructured to provide a unique and beautiful wedding venue for couples seeking refuge from the norm. Opposite to a stone Barn where the ceremonies take place is a spacious more modern conversion generally used for the evening reception and dinner services. Behind this stands an utterly gorgeous large barn with weathered corrugated iron sides often used as a backdrop for some amazing photos. We tried to incorporate all areas including the fields surrounding the venue which were bursting with yellow colour in the Spring months that the shoot took place.
Retro Bohemian Classics…
Some of our key props included vintage Persian rugs, 70’s style hanging lampshades and a wicker peacock chair which we teamed with retro bohemian classics such as macrame and crochet. We were all very relaxed on the day and even arrived armed with a bottle of Prosecco to calm any nerves! Overall we feel we achieved a unique and interesting Styled Shoot which we hope you enjoy and can take some inspiration from.
