Good morning everyone and welcome to another beautiful real wedding here on the blog. Today we take a peek at the relaxed and pretty wedding of Aniko and Alex, a Hungarian couple that married right in the heart of their home country in an intimate, outdoor forest wedding. Captured by Sára Petrák Photography, this wedding definitely has the look of love as it plays out in a laidback, unfussy fashion with only a handful of super close friends and family to witness the marriage celebrations. The couple set out to create a day that was simple, very easy going and cosy and we think they ticked all of those boxes when it comes to this DIY, back-garden style wedding.

We were married in the Hungarian countryside near lake Balaton at the Snétberger Center. The venue is located in the forest next to a creek – it’s isolated, private, surrounded by nature and equipped with all comfort needed for a beautiful laidback wedding.

Crowned in a eucalyptus and vine entwined white flower wreath, Aniko chose to have her Rime Arodaky inspired gown handmade for her by a local dress maker, meaning that her bohemian lacey plunge-back V-neck dress is a one-of-a-kind. I so wish I’d had the bravery to go down the bespoke dress route too! If you can find the right talented pair of hands to make the dress, it’s the perfect way to cut out all of the bridal shops and create a unique gown that is exactly what you want to wear on the most special day of your life.

Here is beautiful bride Aniko to tell us about her wedding to Alex….

Caribbean Island Sunset Proposal

We were in Guadeloupe. Alex wanted to propose in the most simplest way, without sunsets or the usual proposal settings…..but, as it turned out, those things are pretty hard to avoid when your holidaying on a remote Caribbean island! So eventually it happened on a beach named “crazy” in Marie Galante with the most beautiful sunset ever.

Forest Ceremony next to a Stunning Creek

We were married in Snétberger Center, Felsőörs, Hungary; a stone house/event room with a lovely terrace and garden. We had the ceremony close in a forest next to the creek. The best man is a music manager and his band Mongooz and the Magnet  played live during the ceremony. I chose Perry Como’s song ‘Round Round’ as my entry song and Alex’s music choice was Bill Moss’ song ‘Number One’.

Bespoke Dress and Simple Flower Wreath Crown

I found a woman who made me a bespoke dress based on inspiration from the gorgeous Rime Arodaky. I wore a simple flat sandal with a white flowers on them and a flower wreath instead of a veil. I wore my mum’s necklace.

Alex wore a simple navy suit with brown leather shoes from Selected. He also wore a playful addition in the form of a colourful bowtie from Mrs Bow Tie with a matching flower boutonnière.

I had one bridesmaid and she also wore a wreath with colourful flowers. She didn’t wear a specific bridesmaid dress. We let her wear what she wanted.

Outdoor Reception with DIY Décor, Fairy Lights and a Polaroid Camera

The venue has a huge garden so the wedding was designed all around the outdoors. We had lots of flowers and paper crafts as decoration made by ourselves. We also had fairy lights and extra little handmade décor elements throughout the reception. We had an amazing yellow sofa that we used as the centrepiece for our woodland photoshoot with friends and family.

We left a polaroid camera in the corner of the garden throughout the night so that everyone could take their own photos too!

Eucalyptus, Naked Fruit Cake and Blues Inspired Band

We chose cut flowers that we knew would withstand the heat and sunny weather. We had eucalyptus, local roses, gypsophila lisianthus in white, orange, green and purple.

Mongooz and the Magnet played during the ceremony and during dinner. For the party we used our own playlists which were carefully selected by me! Our cake was delicious and made by a nearby confectionary shop called Koko Cukrászda in Veszprémto. They made a delicious fruity naked cake for us.

First Dance

We didn’t have a first dance!

Favourite Moment

Hard to pick a moment because the experience as a whole made everything come together in a perfect balance and harmony. Looking back, it truly was the most beautiful series of moments squeezed together in one day.

Any Advice?

If you enjoy your day, everyone else will do. Take it easy and let things happen. Eat the cake!
