hen party and bachelorette ideas for the cooler winter months

A Guest Post by Chelsea Ellsworth

Hen parties should never be restricted to taking place solely in the spring or summer months. The cooler months can bring a different but no less magical mood to the celebrations. After all, who doesn’t love a wedding in the winter with snow white backdrops, colour schemes of cool blues and silver and those fun festive touches. So let’s make that hen do just as incredibly beautiful.

With this in mind, it’s time to put on your winter woollies for a weekend of bridal fun. Whether you’re booking everything yourself or using an expert hen and stag do company to help, here are some great ideas.

Prepare to be Pampered….

If you’re looking for a bit of pampering, a spa weekend or spa day is the ideal choice to make the hen look and feel beautiful. Spend time relaxing in a bubbly jacuzzi, champagne in hand, and having a gossip with the girls – what could be better?

Spa treatments are heavenly, making you and your hens feel rejuvenated in winter months, with soothed muscles and softer skin you will be completely relaxed. The perfect way to spend a cold weekend, escaping the outdoors and celebrating a winter hen party.

City break…

There are so many cities that make for the perfect location for a chilly city break that’s filled with Christmas markets and many festive delights, especially in the months of November to February. Cities such as London and Munich are full of seasonal magic, warm cider, hot chocolates and mince pies.

A trip away will provide a lovely little break from the wedding chaos and offers a chance for some last minute shopping, plus what bride wouldn’t want jet off for a weekend away with her best girls?

Confessions of a Chocoholic…

Another great activity for those cooler months, as well as for those who love all things sweet, is chocolate making. This experience is an ideal party idea for the chocoholic bride, learning the art of a chocolatier, creating delicious treats and overindulging in some of your incredible creations.

Chocolate making always goes down a treat with hens because it allows them to get hands-on and have lots of fun. This is the perfect girly activity for those who don’t mind getting a bit dirty in the kitchen – and of course, eating tonnes of chocolate.

Get your groove on…

You might not be able to leave the house without layers and hand warmers, but if you feel like working up a bit of a sweat on your hen party, we’ve got an idea that’ll warm you up – get the girls together and dance like nobody’s watching.

A dance workshop allows you to choose from many different styles with many places catering to your favourite movies with Grease themes, burlesque and Beyoncé. Enjoy dancing around like crazy people and learn some new skills that you could even showcase at your wedding as a team!

Be adventurous….

A common misconception is that you can’t enjoy adventure activities in the winter however the weather does not need to put a damper on things with specialist venues catering for all weather conditions.

Many activities have an indoor option such as go-karting, paintballing or laser tag – these don’t have to be activities just for the stag, hens are just as competitive, if not worse at times! If you are feeling brave, why not roll around in the mud and a few puddles for the day in an assault course? You could also look into a Go-Ape style tree top adventure, with zip lines and high climbs. Whatever you choose, be adventurous, get those competitive juices flowing and get physical with an adventure filled hen do.

Now it’s time to decide which activity is best for your friend’s hen party and enjoy the weekend together.
