Romantic and whimsical is right where it’s at for this beautiful, hazy, DIY-chic project wedding. Sara from onelove photography had the privilege of shooting this wedding set right in the heart of Contra Costa County, California. The desert haze, the serene backdrop and free-roaming horses and cows make this setting totally unique with a pretty gorgeous couple to match. Stephanie and Daniel were together for 7-years before they wed and chose the Reinstein Ranch for it’s natural outdoor setting.

We are both pretty simple and easy-going people that love hanging out with friends and family. We wanted our wedding to be fun and outdoors!

We absolutely love couples that create their big day from scratch. A DIY wedding takes a lot of heart, sweat and tears (I should know, I made absolutely EVERYTHING for my very own wedding!), which is why I really admire this pair for the way they have styled up and themed their day. They handmade all of the chalkboard signs, the card box, the seating chart, all of the table place cards, the gorgeous ceremony cross and designed all of the stationary. So so impressive!

These two look so in love….not to mention how stunning Stephanie looks; she glows in a Pronovias heart shaped strapless bodice-to-fishtail lace dress with just the perfect amount of elegance to make Daniel swoon. She just looks divine….

Here she is to tell us more about her DIY project wedding and her day of love on the ranch!

Love on the Ranch

We were married at Reinstein Ranch and the venue truly made our wedding special! I actually found our venue through Instagram after I saw a styled shoot that was hosted there! Only a handful of weddings had been hosted there when we found it as it was fairly new. I visited a few weeks later and fell in love. The venue was beautiful and allowed for a lot of creative freedom and flexibility. It also included a house on the property with plenty of rooms for your bridal party to stay all weekend.

Secluded Ceremony with Horses and Cows in the Distance

I really wanted to provide a unique environment and experience for guests. The ranch itself was a very unique venue, especially since it’s so close to the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area. It was very secluded and we even had some horses and cows in the backdrop of our ceremony! I wanted guests to walk around and experience all aspects of the venue so I made sure each part of the wedding was held in a different area of the ranch.

In regards to our theme/style, we wanted to stray away from ‘rustic’ as much as we could. We still wanted to provide a little elegance so we made sure to add a few nice touches here and there.

DIY Project Wedding from Signage to Seating Chart

We love a good DIY project and this wedding really allowed us to be creative and work on projects together. The chalkboard signs, card box, seating chart, place cards, ceremony cross, calligraphy, wedding stationary (invitation suite, menus, programs, save the dates), and other signage were all made by us (with the help of Dad’s power tools)!

Since our guests would walk through the barn for the ceremony, we decided to hang pictures at each stable starting in 2009 (when we first started dating) until 2016. This allowed our guests to see where we first began and the many adventures we’ve had during our relationship together.

Camping Out Under the Californian Skies

All of our family and friends stayed on the ranch (some even camped!) for the entire weekend, which really allowed us to relax and stay present during all the festivities. We had a lot of family travel all the way from Chile to spend our day with us. It was just great sitting there watching people from different walks of life and cultures joined together to celebrate our love.

First Dance

Our first dance was to ‘Die a Happy Man’ by Thomas Rhett.

Favourite Moment

One of our highlights was sitting at dinner and watching all of our friends and family in front enjoy themselves. Daniel’s dad officiated the wedding in sign language, since he is deaf, which was a very special moment for us.

Another moment that stood out was when we were both lifted up my our bridal party on the dance floor! We’ve never laughed so hard in our life.

Oh, and the unicorn and emoji masks! Those were great, too.
