This shoot is the perfect pick me up we have needed today. We absolutely LOVE it. From the joyous smiles of the bride and groom to the party vibes of their outfits and the awesome colourful décor – it is full of life, full of vibrancy and full of brilliant ideas for your wedding – whether it is large or small.
Curated by the lovely Elise of Beneath The Canopy, Oh You Pretty Things features an absolute stellar cast of wedding suppliers, some of which we are very proud to call members of our Festival Wedding Supplier Directory, and all of which would be an epic addition to your wedding – especially if you are looking to create a music festival vibe which this shoot has done beautifully throughout. It is brilliant reminder of how awesome a festival themed wedding can be and has already had me dreaming of the next time I can party at a music festival. Might have to get myself one of the awesome tasseled jackets by Sarah Baily for when I do! The first and last jackets I need in my life!
Elise shares with us the vibe, fashion, venue and decor inspiration behind the shoot, as well as all the suppliers who helped make it happen.
Look out for the gorgeous festival inspired makeup by Lucy Meyer MUA, the use of disco balls throughout the styling by Beneath The Canopy, the stationery and map by Paper Bear Lane and The Gin Emporium bar (who I think should set up permanently in my back garden – especially if we go into another lockdown!)
Enjoy lovely people and we hope this shoot lifts you as much as it has us.
The Vibe…
For this shoot, I really wanted to create something vibrant, lots of fun but still jaw droppingly gorgeous. As a lover of all things music festival I wanted to add an element of that, but keep the main focus on the fact that this look is still beautiful and transferrable for your wedding day.
In keeping with the festival fun I was thrilled to have Love tipi on board with not one, but two types of tipi for the day. I love the way that the backdrop of our tents and larger structures instantly create a village feel and an amazing communal space for a party.
As the vibe was relaxed an informal, we opted for a grazing platter from Grazing social and sweet treats in the form of delicious doughnuts from the Marble Kitchen.
The Fashion…
The most important element of the aesthetic was the colour, Sarah’s eye catching tasselled jackets tied in beautifully with the theme, not least because Jo Whiley (queen!) sported one of these jackets whilst recording her Glastonbury celebration on the BBC recently. I wanted to balance the metallic and leather with some soft, light fabrics so the tulle in the Willow by Waters dresses were perfect. The dresses lent to us by The Pantiles Bride had colour to them, which brought the jackets and dresses together.
The statement headpieces from Folky Dokey finished of the look and gave us another element to work with the transition from daytime to evening outfit changes.
The Venue…
Horsted Pond Farm nr Uckfield is a stunning blank canvas venue that has plenty of room for our glamping tents. During the summer the farm itself grows sustainable crops and as well as acres of space, the venue also has a beautiful woodland chapel, which we took full advantage during the shoot.
The Décor…
We need to talk about the disco balls…I love them, I can’t help it! I love the way the sunlight dances off them during the day and having them hanging from the trees in the woodland chapel just added to the whimsy of it all.
To add continuity for the décor, our wonderful florist Laura ‘Fern Cottage Floristry’ liaised with the headpiece designer to match colours and palm fans with her beautiful botanicals. Braving working at height to install a huge statement display on the tipi to finish the look.
The team from to have and to Hire provided so many elements to the shoot with their tassel and glitter walls and a van like a magicians hat, full of goodies, furniture and lanterns to decorate the everything from the chapel, the tents and dining areas.
