Morning oh lovely ones. I hope you’re having the best week so far and if you’re off school with the kids, I hope you still have your sanity! Isn’t it lovely being off with the children? My daughter and I have had some gorgeous time together this week and the rain has given us the perfect excuse to get cosy with blankets and hot chocolates. Only another 6 weeks to go!

We’ve been swooning over this morning’s real wedding, brought to us all the way from Nashville and submitted by the brilliant Tiffany from Shutter Sprite Photography. Chelsea (the bride) pulls off the most divine and authentic vintage boho bridal look as she weds Joseph in The Long Hollow Gardens Greenhouse. The couple knew they wanted an alternative-to-the-norm venue so googled ‘greenhouses’ in the area and Long Hollow popped up. The earthy and organic setting of this place works in perfect harmony with Chelsea’s eclectic floral and colour choices. They let the wildflowers and multi-coloured bright blooms theme the day without a set colour palette in sight. Love this!

Chelsea describes herself as a ‘hippy at heart’ and her wedding as a “groovy greenhouse wedding”. We can see where the hippy and groove comes into this wedding as she brings in many vintage and 1970’s inspired décor elements and props. They hired the coolest vintage powder blue VW photo booth van complimenting her boho inspired 70’s style; she stole her husband’s heart in a flared sleeve, tassel-draped Rue De Seine gown with a stunning beaded cap which she switched to a bright and colourful ‘flower power’ floral crown by the time of the reception.  Not only did she look the part, but beautiful and talented Chelsea also takes claim to the styling and décor set up of the day too – so talented!

My husband and I ARE total hippies at heart, as well as old souls so we infused as much vintage and bohemian aspects as we could into the wedding. We knew that we didn’t want any wedding colours, so instead we used all of the hundreds of colours in the flowers as our palette. We were inspired by beautiful brass and hand carved wooden details from India, as well as macramé and woven trims from the seventies.

Here is Chelsea to tell you all about her hippy, greenhouse wedding to Joseph….

Christmas Proposal in Nashville

My husband and I fell in love in college in the Blue Ridge Mountains. When he proposed he wanted it to be beautiful yet simple. He proposed in his home town of Nashville TN. It was during Christmas time under the millions of dazzling twinkle lights at Opryland where we had gone on many dates. It was magical and unexpected, since we had been dating for 7 years and I had almost given up hope. Little did I know he was teaching me patience.

Greenhouse and Gardens Wedding

We were married at The Long Hollow Gardens Greenhouse. We wanted something totally different, something that was really unique. I searched all over Nashville for bohemian venues, and finally found it by googling greenhouses in the area! We also had a really old antique marquee.

Vintage Persian Rugs, eucalyptus and velvet ribbons

For our ceremony we wrote our own vows, and walked down an aisle of vintage Persian rugs. The aisle was lined in bundled eucalyptus tied in multi coloured vintage crushed velvet ribbons. At the end of the aisle was a beautiful 10-foot tall colourful wooden cross hand built by my Father-in-Law. We collected the pieces of wood for over a year! We had a gorgeous installation of hand-painted wood and tassel sculptures that dangled next to huge macramé planters. For the ceremony music, we had a good friend play the Beatle’s “All You Need is Love”, and Coldplay’s “Yellow” on acoustic guitar. My favourite detail had to be where the flower girls handed out full stemmed flowers.

1970’s Bohemian Style Dress by Rue De Seine

I knew that I didn’t want a traditional wedding dress by any means. I wanted a bohemian dress, and wanted to look as seventies and gypsy as possible. I HAD to have a dress with fringe. My dress is the Cleo gown by Rue De Seine. I purchased the gown from the most gorgeous bridal shop called Dress Theory in Nashville.

My shoes were a mauve crushed velvet & rhinestone pair of vintage heels by Badgley Mischka that my mother found at an antique store. My veil was the Topanga veil by Untamed Petals purchased at Dress Theory in Nashville as well. It is a cathedral length hand beaded Juliette cap. I wanted the vintage look, and the cap was drool worthy.

Topaz Earrings, Leather Suspenders and Vintage Bridesmaid Mix

My jewellery was passed down blue topaz earrings from my mother, a turquoise & mother of pearl ring (present from the groom) my wedding ring was a moonstone and the band was turquoise. Joseph wore a light grey suit from Men’s Wearhouse, cognac leather suspenders and a handmade floral bowtie from Neck & Tie company.

All of my bridesmaid’s dresses were a mixture of vintage, handmade, and beholden. I let the girls pick/design/make their own gowns – all ivory boho maxis of their choice. All of my maids had headpieces or bohemian style clips in their hair.

DIY Décor, BBQ Food Truck and VW Photo Booth

Every table was filled with my collection of colourful vintage glass and etched brass vases, and hand dyed doilies. My husband and I collected all of the décor by ourselves from estate sales and antiques stores for 2 years in preparation. We had an adorable mobile bar in a teardrop trailer, a BBQ Roadhouse Grille Food Truck, and a photo-booth inside a teal VW bus. We had gorgeous signage hand-painted from a friend, custom koozies at the bar and best of all, a DIY tattoo parlour. We sat at long ‘Alice in Wonderland’ style tables in a vintage peacock loveseat with mismatched china and goblets.

Incredible Photographer with an Eye for Detail

Our Photographer was Shutter Sprite Photography and she (Tiffany) was absolutely incredible! She had such an eye for detail! She was a pleasure to work with. Our videographer – John Jordan Films was amazing! He has such a beautiful way of filming unlike any other!

Naked Confetti Cake and Dreamy Wild Florals

The cake was a three-tiered naked confetti cake adorned with flowers from Triple Crown Bakery, complete with a custom wedding cake topper of the bride, groom, and our dog. Our florist was absolutely incredible! Terri from Mansion and Marsh made our dreams come true! She used florals like eucalyptus, chamomile, lavender, wildflowers, thistle, peonies, ranunculi, sunflowers, king protea…and so many more! She also made me a gorgeous wildflower flower crown for the reception.  Our bar was by The Aero Bar.

First Dance

We danced to Alan Jackson’s Blue Ridge Mountain Song, a love story about falling in love in the blue ridge mountains just like my husband and I did!

Favourite Moment

Saying our vows to each other – my husband cried like a baby…it was perfect! That, and the epic VW bus photo-booth were definite highlights. On our wedding day it rained like crazy, but honestly it was a complete blessing. Our photographer even encouraged us to get out in the rain and take pictures which turned out beautifully! Lastly we did a first look really early on in the day so that we could spend an hour together before the ceremony even started. It was the best decision we made. It gave us time to see each other, have our moment, and spend extra time with our friends and family!

Any Advice?

ALWAYS have a rain plan because mother nature has a mind of her own, but no matter what have fun and remember it truly is the best day of your life. The only time where every single one of your favourite people are all in the exact same place at once!
