I have been so looking forward to sharing today’s Festival Brides Love supplier with you. One of the main reasons I first started Festival Brides was to share with like minded people the cool, unique and quirky wedding suppliers that I came across whilst I was planning my wedding all those many moons ago. Now, 7 years on, these cool and quirky wedding suppliers find us and I never fail to get excited when they do.[/caption]Today’s uber cool festival wedding supplier comes in the shape of a vintage horse box and couldn’t be more perfectly suited to our festival wedding niche. Ladies and Gents, meet The Little Cocktail Box, the brain child of husband and wife team Jono and Sarah from East London. They decided to follow their dream and design a bar that not only looks good but is full of personality and charm, and I should know. I got my own little tour of The Little Cocktail Box last weekend at our Kent Wedding Venue open day and it is awesome. The interior and bar is made of reclaimed solid wood and looks so good against the grey of the painted metal exterior. They also have an amazing (and I mean amazing) cocktail menu that I could have spent hours and hours sampling!
If you are looking for the perfect bar for a festival wedding then look no further because these guys are it!
Tell us a little bit about yourselves?
We are a husband and wife partnership, Jono and Sarah, from East London. We have a daughter, Grace, who is our mascot, and who inspired us to follow our dream to have our own bar.
If you had the chance to go to any music festival, which one would it be and why?
We would love to go back to Reading Festival. We went in 2014 just before we got married and have great memories of camping and trekking to the loos (we cheated and got ‘The Seat of Luxury’ posh toilet pass). We saw a mobile bar when we were there and at the time hadn’t decided to start our venture. It would be great to get The Little Cocktail Box there one day and soak up the atmosphere whilst helping to create it.
Tell us a little bit more about The Little Cocktail Box Mobile Bar?
The Little Cocktail Box bar is a converted 1982 Sinclair Horsebox. It is stored in Braintree Essex, so we can cover London, Essex, Suffolk, Kent and Cambridgeshire. It was converted by the Hungry Horsebox Company, and has a colour palette of greys on the outside with a wood interior finished off with some foliage. There is a main hatch with two cocktail stations, and a side hatch for speedy service of bottle & shots. We are all set up to take card payments as long as there is wi-fi but will settle for good old-fashioned cash if there isn’t.
How does your bar work and what sort of drinks menu do you offer? Do you supply seating and tables for guests?
We specialise in high quality cocktails but stock a full bar. Our cocktail menu features some classics like Cosmopolitan & Margherita, some modern favourites like the Old Fashioned and the Aperol Spritz with some of our own creations like The Little Cocktail. We have a team of experienced and friendly bartenders that we call upon for our events who share our passion for good drinks and help us to achieve a high standard.
Tell us more about your awesome signature cocktail?
Our signature is ‘The Little Cocktail’ made with spiced rum, shaken with single cream & agave syrup then served neat with dark chocolate and honeycomb shavings, burnt orange and chocolate bitters. We spent a night at home trying different variations starting from something closer to a Brandy Alexander – it’s a hard job but someone’s got to do it! 😉 We are really happy with the final result and have been blown away by the positive feedback that we have had so far.
As well as being a cool and quirky bar, what else makes The Little Cocktail Box stand out from a crowd?
We think it is really valuable that Jono has over a decade of experience in the industry as there is so much you might not know if you haven’t come from that background. From working in, and managing London bars Jono has had exposure to busy, high volume wine and cocktail bars giving us the confidence that we can adapt to any event and take anything that is thrown at us.
Fair & Affordable:
We avoid passing costs on to our couples by covering the cost of a license (if one is needed), and our most common hire arrangement is to refund the booking fee when the event spent hits £1500.
Fun: We also like to have fun – we are keen to get our newlyweds behind the bar shaking a cocktail or two!
Finally, we have made sure that our values are clear by avoiding ‘bride & groom’ specific marketing in a bid to be inclusive. The Little Cocktail Box is for anyone celebrating a special day.
If our readers were to book The Little Cocktail Box for their wedding, what sort of service can they expect?
Before we commit to a booking we find out what the couple are looking for on the day so that we can make sure that we can deliver to a high standard and meet their expectations. If we have any concerns about whether this is possible, we will be upfront about it. We do everything that we can to make the planning as easy as possible for the couple – for example by taking ownership of applying for a Temporary Event Notice where it is needed (if the venue isn’t already licensed). We know that there is a lot to plan for a wedding, and lots of details to fit together, so we let our couples take the lead on when they would like to talk details! We appreciate that everyone is different, and will make ourselves available to them when the time is right for them.
What is your best piece of advice you can offer our readers when it comes to choosing a bar for their wedding?
Like most things for a wedding, you should pick a bar that best represents you – make sure that you will love the drinks at your own wedding! As well as looking at the drinks, look for a bar that is customer service focused and has thought about how they will keep the drinks flowing without delays as well as being fun and friendly – nothing kills a party like a moody bartender!
Finally, what’s your quote/motto at The Little Cocktail Box?
Stick to high quality ingredients and shake it like you mean it! Ice is king.
