It’s Halloween (mwah ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaa) so it’s not surprising that today’s GORGEOUS styled shoot is full of creepy vibes, deep, dark and decadent colours, a beautiful model with devilish red lips and yes you guessed it, pumpkins!

Sent all the way from Australia by Kendra of Wildchild Cakes, this dark and twisted shoot wanted to show the more romantic and mysterious side of Halloween with a raw and untamed edge….

We wanted to show couples that a Halloween wedding can be so much more than just pumpkins and spiderwebs. With the right balance and contrast you can create something truly romantic and beautiful.

We love the table setting with its gold dusted pumpkins, dark crockery and wild succulents. The hanging flowers by Bloodwood Botanica are also amazing and suit the theme perfectly. All the different elements within this shoot, from the decor to the styling of the bride, work beautifully together and really do capture the overall dark and twisted theme.

Dark and Twisted….

This shoot was created to show our love of Halloween and how not only can it be used as a beautiful romantic wedding theme but how a beautiful rural Australian property can take it to a whole new level.

There was not a doubt in my mind when choosing a venue that it had to be Yandina Station. When walking around the property on a chilly overcast day, among the abandoned cattle sheds and giant willow trees, I knew I had made the right choice.

For the styling I wanted a small yet noticeable element throughout to tie everything together and like our shoot name, Dark and Twisted, I found my Twisted element to be the use of beautiful twigs and branches throughout. They were in the bridal bouquet, hanging installation, Brooke’s hair had dried twig flowers and even the cake and dessert table by Wildchild Cakes had twigs! And along with the amazing help of Cloud Nine Weddings we were able to really showcase these elements!

Much like the property, our florist, Bloodwood Botanica, was a no brainier. Not only is her name a perfect fit for our shoot but her knake at creating new and exciting pieces made her a definite vendor choice! The hanging installation, with a stunning combo of roses, orchids, wild twigs and greenery, was a perfect comparison to the raw rusted tin back drop fitted out with beautiful whimsical fairy lights.

Romantic, Mysterious, Raw and Untamed….

We wanted this Dark and Twisted shoot to be romantic and mysterious, yet raw and untamed. Our stunning wedding dresses from Luv Bridal were a perfect contrast against the dark rural backdrop and were most definitely the perfect romantic element for this shoot making her really stand out! Speaking of our amazing model (or muse as we dubbed her), we wanted her makeup to be the best of both worlds. Dark yet light, as not to make her look too heavy! Backstage Beauty, our make up extraordinaire, achieved this by giving her a dark autumn lip balanced with a lighter eye. Perfect for those brides wanting a more dramatic look.

When it came to hair however we wanted to go wild and dramatic and Fox and Dandelion was our girl! She was able to create the most amazing intricate braids, giving Brooke an almost Mohawk like style. We thought this looked perfect for the shoot and something a little different for brides to create on their wedding day.

All in all we wanted to show couples that a Halloween wedding can be so much more than just pumpkins and spiderwebs. With the right balance and contrast you can create something truly romantic and beautiful. So take a chance, take a walk on the dark side!
