Not many people know this about me but I used to be a ballerina. I absolutely adored dance as a child and was a member of a dance academy from the age of 5 right up until I was 18. Seeing this beautiful and captivating shoot today has completely reminded me how expressive dance can be. So much content and emotion can be found in one movement and there is something so wonderful and transfixing about the shapes created in ballet especially. Perfect for illustrating the movement and fluidity of a beautiful wedding or bridesmaid dress.
Today’s mesmerising ballerina shoot was put together by Grace Lane London, an exciting bridal designer and dressmaker who offers a bespoke wedding and bridesmaid dress making service with the motto:
‘You dream it, I’ll make it.’
Grace has recently launched a new soft tulle fabric bridesmaid dress (which we LOVE) and put together this gorgeous editorial shoot as part of the launch. Featuring a professional ballerina, the shoot is inspired by the passion and strength of ballet and you can really see how beautifully the soft tulle fabric of the dresses drapes with each pirouette and attitude. We also love how the colours of the fabric change with each movement. It’s such a pretty dress and is perfect for a boho bridesmaid.
Lucky for us, Grace chose Festival Brides as the wedding blog to share this wonderful shoot with and we couldn’t be happier. The images captured by Elizabeth Jayne Photography are just wonderful and I know you are all going to love the bridesmaid dresses as much as we do.
Available in 6 different colours with inter changing designs to suit different figures, Grace shares with us the details on ‘The Jessie Dress’ and the dream team involved in the shoot…
The Jessie Dress….
I have been developing this bridesmaid dress for over a year; sourcing the softest tulle and perfecting the fit. Named after my stylish sister Jessie, and inspired by the convertible multi – way dresses. This is for modern bridesmaids to dance the night away in a dress you can be yourself in!
The Jessie Dress can be worn in eight different ways and comes in six shades. It is lovingly crafted so each style option truly flatters. Miniature drawstring ribbons at the shoulder gather or twist the tulle into eight easily achieved styles. Ethically made and sweat shop free with attention to quality craftsmanship. Each dress is made to order with your choice of back, belt and length.
For the styled shoot I asked four talented vendors to be involved. The dream team was Elizabeth from Elizabeth Jayne Photography, Emma from Bridal Makeup by Emma, Leanne from Lovely Wedding Locks and Francesca from Francesca Anne Flowers. This is our second styled shoot together. Our passion for what we do means we are always planning our next collaboration!
We fell in love with the sleek space of The West Reservoir Centre. The sun filled industrial backdrop on an autumn day laid the perfect setting for modern romance. I asked Aisling from the London Ballerinas to model. I find the passion and strength of ballet so inspiring and I wanted to convey how beautifully the soft tulle fabric drapes in dance and movement.
About Grace Lane London….
I have over 10 years’ experience as a maker and pattern cutter for T.V and Film. 4 years ago I was a bridesmaid for my best friend Sophie. I was introduced to the wonderful world of bridal and knew my bespoke skills and design background had found their home. I founded Grace Lane London in 2016 offering a bespoke dress making service with the motto ‘You dream it, I’ll make it.’ The Jessie dress is my first ready to wear range.
Alongside my bridal commissions, I also work with celebrity stylists and on films. Most recently working on the latest Star Wars movie. The diverse work I do allows me to constantly grow as a designer and maker. Being in the creative hive of London inspires me. I love getting to know each customer and helping them to create something they will feel amazing in. I continue to freelance as a costume maker; running my bridal business in tandem.
