Happy New Year Lovely People! I hope you had all had an amazing Christmas break and are now ready to take on 2018. I am hopeful that this year is going to be a good one – the kind where dreams come true and happiness over rules. 2017 seemed to whizz by far too quickly for me and I almost feel like I wasn’t there to live it. It was a big year with an amazing trip to Australia and the birth of my gorgeous GORGEOUS baby boy but it also brought a lot of anxiety and for that reason I feel quite exhausted by it. I am most certainly hoping for a calmer and more organised 2018 – a year where I can take a few breaths and enjoy the wonderful family and friends I have.

January is always such an important month for Festival Brides as it brings with it a new wave of readers, usually with a shiny new diamond on their left hands! If you are one of those readers and have just stumbled across these festival pages then a massive welcome to you all. I am so pleased you have found us and I really hope you enjoy the daily inspiration and advice we post about planning an awesome wedding. I will be sharing a little ‘how to’ guide next week about getting the best out of using Festival Brides to plan your wedding and the exciting things we have planned for 2018. Until then, please do explore the blog and get in touch if you have any questions.

We are kicking 2018 off with a beautiful styled wedding shoot captured on the shores of Whitstable beach and featuring a very impressive line up of Kent wedding suppliers. Suppliers such as wedding stylist Natasha Spencer Events, Samie Lee Photography, florist Essentially Hops and bridal boutique With Love and Lace to name but a few. It also has some wonderful metallic inspired wedding inspiration which includes cool make-up and hair ideas by Kent Bridal Hair and Michelle Vincent Makeup Artist and some truly gorgeous wedding cakes by Orange Rabbit Cakes.

Samie Lee Photograpy and Natasha Spence Events talk us through the shoot, the contrasting themes and textures and all the suppliers involved. Enjoy….

Metallic, Neutral and Organic….

Metallic, Neutral, Organic! 3 words to describe this beautiful beach styled shoot in Whitstable Kent. As always Natasha from Natasha spencer events pulled off the perfect styled shoot.

When Samie Lee approached me to collaborate on a beachy styled shoot I leapt at the opportunity. Kent is a county surrounded by beautiful pebble beaches and I instantly felt inspired. I pulled together a mood board full of textures and neutral pallets and the striking contrast of metallics. It took all of 2 seconds to think of the perfect location. Whitstable beach is a stunning beach on the Kentish Coast. Its quirky and full of inspiration for a styled shoot.
Pulling the rest of the team together was a simple process. Essentially Hops has created some stunning installments in the past and I knew she would understand my vision. Early on Laura mentioned including Raw Cotton and I did a little happy dance. From there we spoke about organic and free shapes of arrangements with pampas grass, cotton, sandy roses and deep burgundy foliage.

With Love and Lace bridal’s dresses were to die for. Soft and romantic with beautiful silhouettes well suited to Kent Bridal Hair’s bohemian plaited style and the perfect contrast to the dramatic make up by Michelle Vincent. I adore styling with contrasts, textures and blending styles and the brides look is the perfect example of this.

The table setting was a continuation of the contrasting themes. We used a rough palette as a low table with a soft fabric runner, an abundance of cushions and throws for seating with organic style crockery from Classic Crockery. Willow Beau Stationery was an exciting addition to the team with her creativity and beautiful calligraphy style. We discussed agate place names, a soft and flowing fabric table plan and the raw edged organic paper she used to create the stunning invitation suite. She took the brief and ran with the ideas and they were the perfect compliment to the rest of the styling.

The whole day ran like clockwork, we had great fun on the beach and I cannot thank all those involved enough.
